My dad has a 379. It doesn't impress me any besides the chrome. Starting out as an owner operator you should try to get a nice Freightliner or Volvo. Great starter trucks.

Agree with leftlanetruckin its a loaded question. What will you be hauling? Where will you be running? How heavy do you want to haul? How fast do you want to run? What $ per mile will you be running for? This question is like saying I like being outside so which house in the united states should I buy?

Aesthetics are more important to some people than others but studies have shown beauty does have benefits.

You should truck because you love trucks, not just to own a business because there are more profitable businesses to be in than trucking.

Since you love trucks get a truck you love, not some mega fleet reject. Don't haul cheap freight and you won't need to drive an ugly truck.

Take care of it and it will be the only truck you ever buy.

My old girl is 17.5 years already and only ever driven by me.

Sounds like your with the a big company so are looks more important than interior size as you may end up training share can get crowded. Looks are great to those who drive past, but they arent the ones who have to live in the thing.

We must have different direct customers then, because the only thing they ever ask is how much to go from point A to point B. They never offered anymore if the truck is a 379 or offered any less if it is a 91 cabover. Good for you though if you have gotten more money by having a more expensive truck.

I was thinking that. If the customer sees me pull up in a 379 they are going to pay me more than a 07 Cenutry with HID, Leds and chromed out.

I drive a 2012 W900L have always had KW or Petes they hold up well and if your meticulous on maintenance and keeping it up inside and out you'll have a trk that will hold value and won't fall apart like the other trucks on the market. Plus they have great resale value. My motto is if your gonna drive it/own it then take pride in your ride gotta look cool on the stool!. Might as well enjoy the trk you pay for. In over 17 yrs driving I Have yet to be pulled in for an inspection at roadside. Take pride in yourself and your job and have fun.!

Man, what should I buy, what should I buy???

These days I've been thinking about trading in and buying new....

But the idea of getting strapped into payments again, whew....

I think I'll stop by the truck dealer on my way home and say hi to my friend that works in the sales dept.

Never bought a truck from him before, but there's a first time for everything, (we made friends when I bought my last truck, funny, we're still friends even though I didn't buy from him...lol...)

If I can feel good about the deal, I mean really good about it, you know, with the trade in amount, with the new purchase price, etc..

    I might just buy something.

But I'm going to have to really feel good about it.

    LOL!!!

What ever you do, BigD09, DO NOT be in a hurry to buy.....

    It will not benefit you.

    Play hard to get.

If you're going to be an O/O you better learn to negotiate, and the purchase of your first truck is as good a place to start as any...

    Good luck.
