on the king pin - the king pin on the big neck is remove able and you move it from the big neck to the flip neck after you flip the neck

This one doesn’t have pins that look like that.

the pins I have are at the base of the wheels going into the trailer, another set of pins that attach the stinger to the trailer, then I have two pins that can slide in and out that are on top of the center axle of the trailer. They are on the inside and basically just slide out and hang on top of the bottoms frame flange. Like on the top side of the “I” of the beam.

I took the stinger and booster off.

I was going to use the jeep and trailer to haul a load as it would save me overall length and keep me from having to get an escort!

The pivot is not a pin. If you have a west coast trailer - you have a pivot, that’s what makes it a west coast trailer.. and if you took off the booster without the travel pins your rollers at the front are sitting on the top stops and you essentially have no suspension.

I am just trying to help you understand how the trailer works. They are very expensive to fix ….

In above pictures you can see the rollers I was referencing ( the deck is disconnected)

So basically using this trailer without the stinger and booster attached isn’t the best idea?

This pic that has the area circled. There is a pin inside there. One in each side. They are manual pins.

I appreciate ya breaking it all down for me. I have very experienced driver that starts in 2 weeks. I just like to be familiar as well

yes that is where the travel pins would be.

    to answer
    You question

the trailer with no jeep and no booster weighs like 35k give or take. A heavy 4 axle sleeper truck is like 27k maybe more (mine 4 axle is 30k)

so 63k tare weight and maybe 140k gross (20k steer plus 2 trident at 30k)

so if you could get it perfect maybe you could haul 75k ish

but the center of weight is going to be so far back in the well that you won’t be able to move the load far enough back to max out all the groups -

center of weight for the trailer is 1/2 distance from the king pin to the pivot (not the center of the tridem like on an east coast trailer like your 55 ton trailer) - this puts the center of weight in the well at about 17’ from the neck leaving only 9 or 10 versus a standard 55 ton east coast where you will have 13 fr in a 26’ well

adding only the booster or only the jeep just makes the problem worse.

Everyone has to learn this for themselves- so you will want to scale loads done this way until you get the idea down.

On the running the trailer pinned - look at the size of the travel pins versus the deck pins or booster pins. The decks pins are 6”diameter as I remember and the booster pins are 4 or 5”. The travel
Pins are like 3” - so you can see they are sized to keep the beam in place but not to carry the working load. Again, you can do it and I have but you taking a chance.

good luck with your trailer - enjoyed mine.
