One thing that I am apprehensive about is riding with a trainer for 3 or 4 weeks, or maybe longer. I just can't imagine living with a stranger for that long in such a cramped space.
Have any of you felt that way before doing it? And how did it work out for you?

2xcutter- i can certainly appreciate your apprehensions, and i know that although we need quite alot of training, that seems like a long time out with someone in a cramped space.. hopefully they match us up with trainers that have great attitudes..

Yeah... I was nervous... Not only a stranger for me, but also a male that wasn't my husband. I was lucky and got a good trainer that was a professional and kept everything on that footing. However, to make myself and my husband feel better, I made sure I had the funds to be able to jump off the truck anywhere in the USA and make it back home. Never needed it, but made me feel better that I had that option.
airforcetoo Thanks this. -
I just finished two weeks out with my "training engineer" and though I was apprehensive, i sucked it up and am glad I did. I learned so much and feel better about pulling my first solo load in the next couple of days.

Try 6 -8 weeks with the better companies these days. You will be so overwelmed with the training process, unless the guy is totally a slob and or an unqualified trainer.....you will just be so happy to have him in the truck with you.....regardless if he is in the seat next to you or in the bunk behind you. -
maybe we will get lucky and be afforded a hot lady trainer
...
airforcetoo and Peedlezong Thank this. -
Definitely a concern of mine. Excited about it though.

The time will fly by. It's a big truck with a sleeper, not a Miata.

Just finished 6 weeks training otr. I had a total of 3 trainers because of the holidays and them taking vacations. Bad enough being apprehensive about sleeping in the truck with a stranger but having to get used to 3 different ones was almost too much.
The last one I had was the easiest to get along with and would actually stop for meals.
But like the other posters, suck it up, it won't last forever and it's not as bad as you would think. I am, however, EXTREMELY glad to be getting my assigned truck tomorrow and going solo. -
All i did was two weeks, we ran pretty hard, so i never had time to think of how weird it all was lol
