    I went into work this morning after asking what is going on with ELD? We are a Canadian company that does run in the U.S. I do dedicated into Battle Creek,Mi. We have Omnitrac system of some sort, no one has ever showed us anything. They were installed in trucks 14 months ago but NEVER used. Today I go in and they say run anyways with a letter from OUR companies safety guy to give to DOT if asked saying sorry we are not ready by the deadline. With the letter was the contract that we have omnitrac system but not in place yet. The contract started Sept, 2016??? Not enough time? I refused and went home. Not sure if/when they are going to enforce law.

    I think you made the right decision. I wouldn't go with that either.

    Dot won't care about your letter one bit..Although they will not put you out of service, I've read the fines will be high.

    I'm in a similar situation (I also run to Battle Creek almost every week) our company put the elog in our trucks with not one bit of instruction.
    I've tried several times to start using it but it's a JJ Keller system that seems very complicated with a lousy format.

    I'm going to give it another shot after I make my deliveries this morning...the format is so bad that I may just look for another job once I get home on vacation Thursday.

    It may come down to me just buying my own truck so I can use the Big Road system I've been using for the last year.

    Good luck, you are smart to refuse.

    Just carry the eld along with you in the truck. At least he'll know you had good intentions.
