Does anyone else ever have trucks that work for a little company shoot up the closed lane and merge over way way ahead of them?

They post these signs in indiana. In theory, this is the best way to handle lane closures, but doesn't work well in practice because most people in the closed lane won't wait til the designated merge point to move over. What actually happens is that lots of vehicles keep flying up the closing lane and, after passing most of the conscientious drivers that are crawling along in the open lane, they merge prematurely when they find a little gap. So, you have a constant flow of traffic up the closing lane, merging willy nilly after passing most of the "suckers" that are trying to do the right thing, and delaying them further. This is why, if there's a backup, I always get in the closing lane and putt along in 1st or 2nd all the way to the merge point, putting a stop to vehicles flying by slowed or stopped traffic in the other lane. Don't like it? I don't give a f***.DSK333, win-some-loose-less and Trucking in Tennessee Thank this.

I always liked how the Ohio Turnpike did construction zones. They'd start putting signs up five miles in advance, and every mile thereafter, and they actually told you which lane was closed.
Unlike the ####### in PA who put a single sign a mile before the lane is closed, which usually states 'lane blocked ahead' or some other nonsense. -
I usually find an adjacent truck and do a rolling roadblock.
