you get a faxed copy from dbl that says, company is responsible for overweight.....the ticket is written out to the company, this has been the case in trucking since 1975. Read your laws....

can you provide a link to where it shows that specific rule?...because ultimately it's the drivers responsibilty to make sure that truck & load are legal,if not load doesn't move & i don't care what a keyboard pusher in some office says because ultimately...I the driver will make final decision.

I see so many untruths posted here......unbelievable. Let's start with the monies JCT "charges" drivers. Lease payment, insurance, optional license protection, optional tax service? What else do they charge for???? NOTHING. They pay all permits, fees, and licenses (except 2290 for O/O). They provide for free EZ Pass, Pike Pass, & Pre Pass. They reimburse all tolls, scale tickets, lumpers, & any other costs associated with the trip, so long as you provide a receipt and put the proper information on it. Hell, they even pay & file quarterly fuel taxes. The only thing extra you pay for is fuel, maintenance, or personal advances.

Illegal company? How do you figure? As the owner of your business, you decide what to do and not to do. They don't force you. I live in Florida and haul the heavy juice loads all the time. If its overweight, they either rearrange or cut it. Period. Run til you drop? Um, E-Logs. Granted, I wasn't thrilled myself when I went on E-Logs in Dec '11, but now that I'm on them, I love them. I get my miles, my rest, and most importantly my stress level has been reduced!!!!

In my experiences, the staff there are wonderful. They have always been helpful and informative. They even has a business consultant that will help you with your business if you find yourself struggling. They have dozens of "mentors" that will help drivers that are new to the lease purchase scenario or if you are simply in a hard spot.......all this for FREE!

When drivers fail at JCT, the first entity they blame is the company. Not always true. The majority of the time, its the drivers themselves. This is a business venture, not a job. This is YOUR business and you manage it: to success or failure. I wonder how many of the disgruntled drivers would put up with the attitude and backtalk they give the staff from their own children. HELL NO! You'd probably smack them into next week. Nobody wants to help someone that doesn't want to be helped or worse is just plain rude. Nobody is perfect and everyone makes mistakes. Take responsibility and accountability for YOUR actions....quit blaming everyone else.

    Just my humble opinion :biggrin_25520:

I take time off whenever and where ever I want....with 2 weeks notice.
I can turn down loads for what ever reason, but then I go to the bottom of the list....only fair.
I can and have made changes to my truck.....just can't drill holes. (After all, I don't have the title....yet)
I fuel where, when, and decide how many gallons to purchase. Of course if I don't use certain companies, I don't get the discount.
Maintenance escrow? It sure is a wonderful thing if I need a major repair and don't have $2500 extra handy.
Q-Comm? If a company uses it, so will you. Period.

So how is this what your stating that you're your own boss??...that don't look like it to me..if you were your own boss..then you wouldn't have to give someone else notice when you want to go home.

Its not a matter of getting permission for time off....its a matter of giving them a heads up so they can route you there on time. No one is going to bobtail 2000 miles because they want to go home. Let them give you a load home so you get paid for it.

True, but it still needs to be 80,000 lbs or less gross. Once you're out of Florida, you're back to the 34,000 lb tandem rule.
