I would have broken every bone in his face!

Sometimes you have to just get it done and deal with the consequences!

Let this be a lesson to you all!
Someone hands you a check or cash...

    PUT IT IN YOUR POCKET!

THEN you can freaking argue! They reach for your pocket THEN you can do what ever you want as then it's simple assault on their part!

EXCELLENT advice. This should be a sticky on every thread about pay issues.

Having been in the biz for some time and worked for 4 OTR company's this seems to be the attitude of most office types these days in the OTR biz. Where just a bunch of inbred hillbillies that steer a truck down the road and would never have the inclination to educate ourselves on how the company we work for operates. Wrong! when it comes to my pay I always knew how much and when it was supposed to be paid. Kept very detailed records on everything I did, even as a company driver.

A trainee making $400 a week should be a pretty straightforward proposition for even a incompetent payroll clerk. So why the many problems with the OP's payroll.

Even if the OP was a bad apple then why the need to have 5 people call him over a 7 day period as you claim to get him to work. I mean if the OP is such a turd then why not just cut him loose and pay what you owe him?

I've shut down loads to get a truck wash before. I like most drivers that have been around the block know what a pain it can be to get someone 1000 miles away sitting in their A/C offices to do even the simplest of tasks in support of the drivers, If it does not directly relate to the on-time pu or delivery of a load.

As far as I am concerned, anyone who pays someone $400 dollars a week to drive a loaded class A truck OTR in 2009 belongs on the BAD COMPNY board for that feat alone.

Wow i just checked the websight. Now i dont care if your family or not, but you dont wear low cut tank tops in an office setting, or a tshirt with a skull on it, or just plain look like a slob in the office. Its any wonder they get any drivers or any bussines after anyone walks in off the street. I also see that they deal with conagra, yea another fine company to deal with, they had drivers they paid $9.00 per hour to drive OTR, some didnt even get 20 hours a week, i know that for a fact as i worked for them, they were then called Excel Foods. So after looking at their websight, i wouldnt give them the time of day.

Ok, I am bored sitting at the Flyig J in Indy, So I read this entire thread before making a comment.

I have question, I know its true in Wisconsin, but in Texas, by having a company rep come here and talk about an ex-employee's job performance, does this not violate state or even federal labor laws. There is i believe covered like a privacy act. As for an example, when you contact an employee to varify employment, all can ask is weather that employee worked there and would you hire him back if available. It is very limited as to what the employer can say about the former employee.

Next question...what is the company rep trying to protect anyway...there not going to change thier way of business.

Does anyone really want to see the other side of these stories brought to the forum. I will nothing more than a BS trash fight and we would all get sick of it real quick. Besides, they can be caught up in a legal firestorm with no chance of winning....

You want to defend your company, create happy employees. Happy truckers will defend the company they work for!!!

I like to see a rep from Werner try come here and defend themselves.

Amen. Just pay the guy and get rid of him should be the attitude of management. Not rip up the check. If the guy is a jerk, give him a call and tell him to pick up the check at the security guard because he dosent work there anymore. By the way, $50 a day sucks to do team, even if in training. Looks like this guy rolled with punches but management didnt.

I checked out everyones pic on their web site. Not a very professional looking crowd.

Many years ago I had a wise driver tell me, "Act like a professional, whether you are one or not". I try to do that as much as possible. Someone needs to tell this to that crew.
