RM tnd80b shuts off

The magnets aren’t strong enough for the pin on the back to keep it charged, you have to lean the bottom edge on the dash and have the top leaning towards the window on a steep angle. I have one, good thing I bought it with points, if I paid for it with cash I’d be upset.

 

I have a tnd720 and it’s just pure garbage. At first the power cable broke so I called RM and they were nice enough to send a replacement. Then after the second cable broke I said screw it and started using any old random cable plugged into a usb cig outlet. Then the thing would freeze and I would have to press a reset button the back which it’s a huge pain to pull over and take it off press the button put it back and get rolling again. Then the dang receptacle on the back of the device started getting worn out and I constantly have to mess with the cable to keep it from shutting off. If rand McNally was actually any good and gave a crap about their horrible product (maps are not accurate, speeds are not accurate, sometimes routes through non truck routes, routing not any near as good as navigo) I wold consider buying a newer version. However the maps are the same, sounds like the quality is the same (pure garbage). I will never give these guys more money again unless it is for a real atlas or they really step up their game and technology. I think I paid over $600 for it and the only good it is to me is for finding Walmarts and rest areas.
