I attended in winter 2010, was very pleased at all the additional training, tips, and information for the actual career that the owner and instructors provided. Had some behind the wheel during snow needless to say learned quickly how non thinking smaller vehicle drivers can be and how helpful VDOT can be with their salt trucks and plows. Typically had 1 or 2 students when driving, only once was there up to 5 students in the classroom. Very individualized instruction.
The owner was around some and even jumped in to offer advice with backing which was an added bonus. The instructors, were helpful with information pertaining to career decisions aka... don't job hop, chose wisely, and "Take other drivers experience/comments with a grain of salt.", "What might not work for one may work for another.", and "Don't be afraid to get your hands dirty or ask for help if you need it".
The equipment left much to be desired but overall a good starting place for a driving career if you do your part and research the industry before you walk in the door.
The owner had financing options and accepted the WIA/Pell Grant when I attended.
They held a 4 week program or longer weekend program. They provided a great classroom text, Regulations book, job listings, industry magazines, and had employers to come in to recruit students.
Overall a decent place to learn.
