Have to agree with Big Don.
Personally, now that I have been over the road I couldn't take route driving. But my circumstances are diffrent that yours- I'm out with my wife, the kids are old enough to be self reliant. So we like the travel aspect. Don't get too caught up in the "whats the right move" the truth is what might seem right now will change later. One thing for sure. Get that CDL and protect it, dont go do anything stupid. That baby is a gold mine. Three things my trainer taught me that has given me more help than you can imagine.
1. You can't go too slow. How many times can you go down that mountain grade too slow? Many as you want. How many times can you go too fast? Once.
2. When in doubt whip it out... if need the space clear traffic and take it all. When you need it those lines are just paint on the ground.
3. When in doubt get out. If you dont know exactly where you trailer is get out and look. Dont know if you'll fit in that side street, throw the flashers on and go walk it.
Good luck my friend
road vs city route
