First off don't be confused about the title because this thread is more of a "Roadmaster Questions (me asking questions, for answers from those who have delt with the company)" rather than a Q&A. I currently reside in Indianapolis, In and have been talking to a recruiter @ roadmaster about possibly attending the classes. MY only concern is that my credit score will require some sort of money down or some catch 22 that I won't be able to commit to. I'm writing to ask others who have attended the specifics of the whole school (i.e. cost (out of pocket NOT tuition), length, experience, and overall opinion)

Q: what is the out of pocket cost? like what would I have to pay?

Q: is my credit score going to hinder me from attending or being accepted into the school?

Q: If credit is a issue, how much would they need me to pay (the full amount or partial) to begin class?

I would appreciate some honest feedback about my topic because I am really interested in making this my career but i'm scared I won't be able to do unless i sign my soul away to some company paid training.

I think you can do better than roadmaster as they are pricey. When I went at the end of 09' it was 6K in cash or 8K financed. Tell us your location and some of us might be able to tell you cheaper alternatives.

I went there out of Fontana. Loved it. Loved everything about. I can say with confidence and no hesitation that my decision to go to Roadmaster was #1 the best decision i have ever made in my life and #2 has transformed my life immensely for the better. But i did take the time and effort to get funded by the federal government. I know i would have a completely different perspective on the school had i gotten a loan.

I just graduated from Roadmaster this past Friday in Salt Lake City. It costs only $4995.00 plus a couple hundred bucks extra for your background checks, physical and permit fees. It was a great school, but you have to apply yourself and pay attention to what the instructors teach you. But if you don't have a clean driving record, clean drug history or decent work history, don't waste your time or theirs. The standards in this industry have been raised high. They have job placement assistance as well, but if you have a tainted past, many companies will pass on hiring you.

you will probably have to pay your own way and hotel fees and meals too, unless you live close to the school. Good luck..

I've had my class b CDL for 26 years, but only actively drove for maybe two or three years. This school taught me the basics, and broke my bad habits. I can't say enough good things about them.

I still think their is better community colleges that offer the same training for a better price.

Check out a company named 'Sodrel'. They have a in house school in Indianapolis located off West St just south of downtown. They're a mail carrier. They'll train you for your CDL, then put you to work hauling mail. They are mainly short haul, so you'll be in a daycab. The job pays by the hour, and you'll be home every day, off one or two days a week. They won't make you sign a employment contract, either. If you stay for 6 months, your training will be free. However, if you quit before 6 months, you'll have to pay for the school.
