Is it just me, or has the dispatch and planning gone in the crapper worse then ever in the last month? Are any of the rest of you getting these mission impossible runs that are poorly planned?

I agree! I got one yesterday that wasn't even a true load. The company recieves loads but they don't ship. They sent me there to pick up a load. And get this... last week I went to pick up a load that was gone already. They told me I was the 3rd driver trying to pick up that load. I don't get what going on here. I wonder if they brought some people over from JB:yes2557:

I am sitting two hundred miles from home right now. I am supposed to be home right now. I delivered my load this afternoon waited a while and was sent to go pick up a load that doesn't load till tomorrow. Needless to say I am still here and will not be home till tomorrow afternoon. I have been watching this place go down the dumper rapidly in the past two years. I'm starting to think having some JB people might help. The planners have been mailing it in for some time now.

Its like this place is going from tolerable to a swift and jb baby. Maybe they should change the name to JB RIFTL. Well, they did hire some new dispatchers, they do this regularly anyway of course, because of this little turnover thing. I hear that when a dispatcher goes to the bathroom, they have to clock out. Also, when they are sitting at their desk they have to log sleeper berth. If swift is Walmart, Roehl is target, in the hood.

Where are you guys dispatched from? I'm new with Roehl, but my experience has been different. My miles have been increasing as they find I can handle the work. I have one dsr that is a kid and only been at this four months, but the other one has been a driver and dsr for many years, (she's good!) They really messed up and my seven days turned into ten, but they still made sure I had quality time at home. I do know freight is slow. The load planner did something really weird that cost me an extra day on the road. I was in Galesburg IL and they deadheaded me across the state to Chicago to get a load to St. Louis which is homebase. It would have been fewer deadhead miles to go Galesburg to E. St. Louis, but the extra miles won't hurt.

I can tell you the driver waiting for the truck didn't even wait for me to park it, I was having a trailer tire replaced and he took it right from the shop. I guess turn about is fair play, the driver before me was late and I took the truck from the trailer drop lot and dropped him off at his car.

In the first quarter of this year Roehl went thru some funny stuff. Alot of drivers got loads with really bad mistakes on them. They must of been breaking in some new planners.
As far as slow freight... Roehl has slow van freight. This is part of the reason I left the company. The new company I am with has awesome van freight.Nothing slow about it. :biggrin_25512:

I'd have to agree, it seems not long after I started these load planners' act fell apart. I was supposed to pick up a load going to GA with plenty of time on it in Owatonna, MN. I got up at a reasonable time to get there and get rolling, but the guy said they had to work on the machine and they'd probably be ready Monday. Soon after, I received a call saying my load was canceled and waited for another load. I got a load out of Shakopee, MN and saw the pickup time as 1100. It was about 1130 when I got the dispatch. I could have EASILY made that 1100 appointment and they could've had someone else take the load I was supposed to take to Georgia--it had PLENTY of time; I was planning on doing a 34-hour restart sitting on the load. Instead, I waited 3 hours to even get loaded because I was late for the appointment. After I saw trucks that got there after I did going ahead of me, I made a call and asked if that 1100 was an appointment. I got a bit of the run-around, saying we usually don't have any problem picking them up later, it's not really important, etc. After listening to the BS, I asked "So, was it an appointment or not?" It turns out it was. Then I got to sit on the 550 mile load (that I'm delivering right now) all weekend. I didn't even want to see my truck, so I checked in the Days Inn, went swimming, went down to the local bar & grille, etc. Overall, a nice 34-hour restart. :)

Let me start by stating that I will have 1 year with Roehl next month. As of today I am beginning on the 7/4-7/3 fleet. I have gotten totally frustrated running national that I was about to quit. Yes the planners have gotten really bad since about May. I have had to fight tooth and nail to get home everytime out for probably at least the last 3 months. I am supposed to run 11/3 but that is a pipe dream. Finally one of the DSR's told me that hometime fleets have priority over national when it comes to loads to get home. That is because someone is waiting on the truck. It is not like I live in bum #*%^ eygpt. I am in Atlanta. It is a major frieght lane. Last time they wanted me to sit on a load in Ellenwood for 2 days and deliver it on my 13th day out. Now why couldn't I go home when I got to Ellenwood on my 12th day and someone relay the load the next day. That was total BS. Well this is my last effort at Roehl, if they screw this up I will have my year in and can leave. I have already contacted a couple local companies or companies that dedicated out of Atlanta and they all said the same thing." Get that year and we will talk"
