Is a CB necessary? or are they outdated?

I'm thinking of getting one sometime soon. Some shippers/cons you can check in with a cb and its easier than parking and walking up to the gate to check in. Sometimes its the side of the road and the walk could be some distance. You could hit them up on the cb and theyll tell you when to come in or where to drop and trailer and pick up the other one and the only time to go in the office is to get your bills. And or for entertainment

I haven't had a CB for a few years now. I don't miss it. There is the advantage of sometimes being able to check in at a shipper or consignee via CB, but even then, I sometimes just call with my cell phone and check in that way.
I gave my CB to my son to play with when I changed trucks,,, 2 trucks ago.mipale Thanks this. -
Thanks Dorset!! Do they already have the antennas already or should I buy them? Mipale everything I have researched said that they are a necessity. Some people claim they r old school but I would rather have one and not need it than need it and not have it.
mipale Thanks this. -
Thank you ... Thats what I thought, seems cell phone would be easier!
