I haven't seen you mention a fleet. If you're flatbed, I'd guess you'll see a lot of the ports, hauling lumber out from overseas. If you're van, there always seems to be a paper load. If not, tampons never fail. Say a big thank-you to Georgia-Pacific.

The only fleet that has a chance of coming close to 7/2 is a regional fleet. The thing is, with the hometime programs you can almost guarantee being home every 7 days, since someone else is waiting on the truck.

Well, that sounds all too familiar. I was sent to Domtar in Rothschild, WI a couple days ago to p/u a load only to find out it was cancelled almost a week ago. I can't complain though, it was a load delivering right outside the Chicago area with a 0500 appointment. I'm now in SW Ohio, been empty for almost a day and keep getting the typical "not yet, working on it" response. I was also suppose to be home today but that doesn't look like it's going to happen anytime soon.

I was wondering, what in the world do you do to past the time.

was told by roehl I could start training after a phy. and sign there contract.
after reading lots of post from this site maybe I won't handle otr trucking. you have to be able to handle the good and the bad. now having to sit around a day for a load, wow. you guys are a lot better then I am. have to hand it to you. a lot goes into being a truck driver the public just does not know.

I have a TV in my truck, my laptop with a wireless card and most the time just catch up on my sleep. At first it is hard to deal with but with time you come to just accept it is part of trucking

This is one area I've never had any problems with. I'm usually out for 11-14 days and get 3 days off. As far as the 72 hour thing goes, if you get home on Friday at 22:00, they will not expect you to be ready to leave out on Monday at 22:00. It will be the early morning of the next day... for example, 07:00.

    so your above post.

    is not the norm??

I should have explained myself better. When I said "I was also suppose to be home today" it was only my 11th day out. My first couple of DSR's almost always had me home after 11 days. With my current DSR, it's usually around 13-14 days. This is no problem at all but I definitely didn't mind running the 11/3. Sorry for the confusion.
