I am a newbie with roehl. I hate to hear about some of the problems some have been having. My time with roehl has been great! I only had 10 days for evo 1 and 11 days for evo 2. I did have five days off in between. But that was at my request because the wife is still adjusting to this new lifestyle. Both my trainers were great guys.I made it thru evo 3 in just over 3 weeks. I've found once you've figure out the correct way to do things they are happy to move you along. So if you in there longer you must be doing something wrong. Thru evo 3 I have always gotten 2800 to 3200 miles. I work 7/4,7/3. Now that i'm main stream, still getting those miles. I found that if you kiss butt a little and not argue it seems to go a long way. Some dsr's are better than others. But communication seems to be the key. I just wanted to throw in my positive story. I will keep everyone posted if things go bad. But I'm having fun!!
Roehl, losing faith in them quickly...

My main beef is on several occassions I have been told I will be picked up on a specific day or be called by a specific person. Well they don't call and when I call they act shocked I am calling. I drove almost 3000 miles for my trainer in EVO 1 and I loved it. He even stated my next trainer would love me because I love to drive. All I expect is clear communication and not to be blown off. If they hold this small episode against me then shame on them. There are so many company's in Atlanta finding a job would be simple. Ravenfan, how are you? Life is good here just waiting to drive. Check Schnieder they upped there pay scale. Good luck.

How and when you get paid is always at the top of my list when making inquiry's at a OTR company. You should not be surprised that it is taking so long to get trained. It seems Roel over hires and their training system is geared toward keeping you in the poor house far longer then is necessary IMO.
My friend who started driving in April for another company as a trainee, is now making $.34 a mile and was in training for 2 weeks at $500 a week before he upgraded. He is on pace to make over 40k his first year on the road and is thankful that I steered him away from companies that use you as cheep labor under the guise of training.
I would not sign on with a company that did not pay you by the week as a trainee because their is no incentive for them to keep you productive if it is not going to cost them anything to sit you. -
Yeah, thats right, suck it up and dont say anything to make the company mad. After all its only you thats not getting paid, not them. Anybody ever stop to think if more drivers spoke up and I mean stood up, these companies
would not get away with half the crap they pull. But no, we can not get together and stand on not even one issue. News flash!!!! They need us a lot more than we need them. But what the hell, just suck it up and watch our trade,a skilled trade !!! Go a little futher down the toliet each year. Be carefull out there

Good point, curlywolf. Are you going to be the one to deny your load because this guy's sitting at home a few extra days? You also going to help him financially if they let him go?

CMoore's right. Sometimes standing your ground means you're supporting the questionable activities of a fellow driver. Lots and lots of drivers will milk the system and hurt their companies, their fellow drivers, and even themselves if given too much power. This is the reason we can't have everybody and everybody's uncle in unions.
If my fellow union driver wants to stay home three more days and watch TV (while collecting all sorts of benefits from the company, thanks to the union), will I protest if the company tries to get rid of that driver? Will I protest and go on strike if the company punishes the driver in any way? If I do that, the company and I are both harmed, thanks to this driver's shenanigans, and nobody wins. Eventually we all go under.
Unions should be there, but they should not serve as a sugar titty for lazy freeloaders. This is what took the USSR down. Freeloaders should not be allowed in the union door, but I think, for the most part, unions make sure they aren't allowed in.
