Maybe I did misread it. Let me see if I can find the OP. From what I read, the guy claimed he was going out with a trainer and getting some "sitting time" the same day he took his physical and drug test and would get the orientation later. Do a search for "crete odd". You may beat me to the OP.

I just read that post I'm talking about here.

The OP claimed he was going with a trainer for some "seat time", meaning he was going to be at least in the cab with a trainer while the truck was moving. He then would wait for the results to come back from his drug test and then go with a trainer. I claimed that was odd for Crete, and still do. I know for sure he wouldn't have been allowed to drive before those results came back, but they are letting drivers in the cabs before the results come back? I don't believe it.

Anyway, back to Roehl. It sounds like those guys are doing it right.

ek5858 sorry it has been so long to get you picked up, stuff happens. I have noticed that the companey has been giving my cell to students(odd considering they haven't offered to pay my bill). I as a rule will not call a student that I'm supposed to pick up until I have at least a vague idea of when I will get to their end of the world. As trainers we do our best to get to you but can only go where the loads point us. The guy talking about logging on duty at home to be paid? The company views that as your time, no different than me being home now myself.

    Family man,

I plan on sticking it out because Roehl is definately one of the best companies. It is just as though their pretty screwed up right now when it comes to trainers. I finally got out after a week of waiting. I had one day left of EvoI. Now let me tell you a horror of what my second trainer was like. I meet him on a Sunday morning, as I am putting my gear in his truck I am met by a awful odor that makes meet want to puke. His truck had the most disgusting smell I have ever smelt. As we are driving this guy puts on heavy metal music and turns it way up. Then he tries to yell over the music to instruct me. I am getting a terrible headache between the smell and the music. As I lay in the upper bunk on my first night trying to sleep I could barely keep myself from gagging from the smell.

The next day I found what was part of the odor problem. This guy goes in the sleeper and opens a can of Sardines and eats them on crackers and putd the can in the trash in the truck. Upon further inspection of the trash I saw their was also a empty can of pickeled herring. This crap was gross. You think he would have a little more respect. That night I realize as he leaves his shoes in the front of the cab that they small worse than the sewer. He even jokes about how nasty they smell. He got grouchy with me when I wanted to shower on the 3rd day out. I told him to pound sand, I was taking a shower. Thank my lucky star that he had a family emergency and had to rush home. The only way he would make it home was if I would team with him to Gary. I should have just had him leave me at Ellenwood but I agreed to help him.

This guy was such a jerk that on the way to Gary I had been driving since around 7pm he made me stop at midnight and claimed that since it was a new day I had to do a PTI right away. It was raining and cold as hell and his fat lazy butt stayed in the truck while I did this at some gas station in Indiana. About 4am in the morning and 2 hours from Gary I tell him I am dead tired and can barely stay awake. He asked that I keep driving because he needs his hours after I get out at Gary. Well we finally got to Gary and thank my lucky stars I parted ways with this nut.

My only problem is now I am in Gary and only have 4 days of EVOII completed. They find me another trainer and I ride with him back to Ellenwood and get dropped off for the Holiday. So now as I sit here at home again I still have 4 days of EVOII I need to complete and I have been out of school for over a month. I can't wait to get my trainer review forms because I am gonna hold nothing back. I will admit that my first trainer I spent 9 days with was awesome and so was the trainer that I spent the last 2 days with. It just sucks that I have spent almost 3 weeks at home while I am supposed to be training. I only have 4 days left untll I get my own truck and then hopefully my career with Roehl will get better.

It amazes me how somone could be surprised that they don't pass a drug test or physical. Don't you know if you are not going to pass a drug test and I would think you would know if something is wrong with you. The DOT requirements are posted for anyone to read. For Interstate you have to get your DOT medical card before you start school and then you have the drug test surprised on you during school. But eveyone knows the drug test is coming so you should be prepared to pass it. No excuses in my book.

Ya, how hard is it, really, to study for a drug test? Don't do drugs. Pass. Simple.

Well, Swift has lifting requirements and someone correct me if I'm wrong they take vital ratings WHILE you're doing these tests. So it's not just like you can have your DOT card and be fine. Plus they don't process your work history paperwork until orientation, so if you get a bad reference or they're unable to verify then that's another source too. I haven't been to orientation but the Swift recruiter told me this stuff. And don't get me wrong a lot of companies do this, including Schnieder.
