Averitt drivers always looked po'd for some reason. Require uniforms but hire morbidly obese bald guys.

Look for the drivers you see smiling.

    They are prob making money.

I'm new with Maverick. Went through their "slightly overkill" orientation. But everything is VERY professional. Their Little Rock facility is amazingly nice and totally built to send well trained SAFE drivers out on the road. And no joke...I have no idea WHY a driver would slam an automatic transmission unless it's just for the sake of a 'feeling like a trucker' thing. Auto tranny's are very helpful to keeping your focus on the cars and road around you. Much more relaxing. I sat in MAJOR traffic last week in Indy for an hour and didn't have to keep up shifting and down shifting and up shifting and down shifting. Way better.
I'm going to move out of flatbed to Maverick TCD. Reefer. But if you want to try flatbed...go for it...and I'd go with Maverick.

BTW...after my training...I've been home every single weekend.

Yep, nitpicky company. I personally know a guy that was written up for placing a small American flag decal on the truck. The shop peeled it off and he was royally chewed out. That goes for any decals no matter how small. When the company turns the trucks back in for new ones they want the old trucks to look exactly like they did when they were new; can't really blame them for that, but it's just not worth dealing with.

You can do much better than Averitt since you live in KY. Paschall Truck Lines or Ozark Motor Lines would probably be better. if you want dry van. Watkins & Shepard is very good and has a terminal in Berea. Even if a company has "experience required", apply anyway.

Here's some good companies; if you're enrolled in school then do some online applications:
    Melton Truck Lines
    Superior Carriers
    SVTN
    CTL Transportation
    Schneider Bulk (tanker)
    Keim TS
    JBS Carriers
    Decker Truck Line

Conway did this to me for a us flag decal I put inside the cab. Bought it off a VFW guy north of la for whatever coins I had in my pocket. Think it was like 80 cents.

Didn't write me up but gave me crap about no stickers. (As they applied their "this vehicle equipped with ambient temp shut down" sticker.

    -.-
