While i will not commit either way on companies good or bad, the LAST place in the #### world you want to be getting any advice from, is the CB.. :biggrin_2551:...that is like getting your daily news fromthe Tabloidss at the checkout lane.
You will find good and bad with any company that hires new drivers, Best thing to do, narrow your primary wants and/or needs to only 2 or 3 thenresearchh the company based off just that. you will do yourself good that way.

SNI has 10 times as many drivers and Roehl has many more complaints on here than SNI. That should be a indication. I have worked for both. SNI hauls 7% of the freight in the U.S. This means alot more drop and hooks and alot more variety of freight and alot more freight lanes. This means less sitting and more moving. I have sat in the drivers lounges of both companies and heard alot more crying and complaining in the Roehl buildings.

At Roehl you will tend to haul alot of paper new and scrap which means heavier and more time at the cat scales. Live loads and unloads also means more unpaid time in the truck.

The terminals aren't even close, SNI has cafeterias and Roehl has vending machines. SNI has nice showers with toilets like the truckstops, Roehl are in bathroom stalls and are as small as closets (Ellenwood)

I speny nearly three years at Roehl and figured that all trucking was alike. Since coming to SNI 2 months ago I have seen what I would consider a very professional company now versus a minor league company in Roehl. They always address me by name when entering or exiting a terminal and I hear thew word "sir" repeated all the time. At Roehl everything boiled down to " Oh well thats trucking" attitude. At SNI they try to make it a better experience and I actually feel as though what I am doing is important to the company. As far as turning down a load, if you are a company driver you must haul what they assign you if you legally can. It is like this at bith companies.

At SNI you are given detention after 2 hours period. At Roehl it is not promised and I only saw it once in 6 requests. Roehl claims if a customer doesn't pay it then the driver doesn't receive it.

Roehl will route you the shortest distance with no regard to the condition of thew roads. All sorts of back higways thru small towns. Sni trusts you the driver to get there. Reohl babysits its drivers because the DSR's are taught to do that. MPG's, idle, and out of route are all you will here about. Roehl also forbids you to talk to planners or customers service, your DSR must speak to them on your behalf. At SNI I have phone numbers and macros on my quallcom to deal with them directly. Once again at SNI I am treated like a big boy

Roehl was fine and I did my training at thier school and drove for them as a company driver and a O/O. The biggest thing I learned was they are not all like Roehl, it can be better and there are companies that treat drivers better. At Roehl I had a job at SNI I feel as though I have a career and have found a home

    ETCH5858:

I read the Pumpkindriver board and there is a WHOLE LOT of complaining on that site of how bad it has gotten at Schneider National. Of course, go to any website and a lot of drivers in all companies will complain about anything. My main concerns (from reading Pumkindriver and here) with Schneider (or any other company) are: Pay freezes, gipping drivers out of bonus pay, holiday pay cuts, and a overall feeling (from Schneider drivers there) of "nickle and diming" the driver to death "because of the poor economy". I read Schneider's website about "how wonderful they are and how they are doing so well, and then read the contrasting information on the Pumkindriver -and this- board. I only want to work where there is no forced dispatch (and this includes being threatened or intimidated by DM into doing a forced or illegal run), and if you refuse to do so (D/T not enough HOS time, etc.) will punish you with no loads and make you sit; they (DM'S) are fair with giving you your requested hometime and won't F*** you around so you don't get it, and when you DO have trouble out on the road, you won't get a: "So, what do you want me to do about it, I don't give a sh** about your problem" attitude. Too much to ask? From reading the Pumpkin board, evidently so. OfI don't work for Schneider, but grew up (and still live in the same area) close to the old Seville OC, so I am familar with them. I am only going by what I read from the Schneider drivers, as I cannot make a fair statement because I do not work for Schneider. What, no APU's in the trucks and idling penalties? What do drivers do in the Winter to stay warm, and Summer to stay cool?!
