These two companies offer what I want in my area the 14 on 7 off program. They both said they would average 2300-2600 miles a week is that normal or inflated numbers? Schneider pays less though then Roehl. I guess my question is what does the community think of these companies for starting out? I'm leaning towards Roehl but wanted to get a little feedback before I commit.

Also does Schneider have APU's? The Recruiter told me she has no idea I guess she's new. Roehl gave me a definite answer of yes either APU's or EPU's.

Roehl would be the way I'd go. I've talked to plenty of drivers from both companies and the Roehl drivers seem much happier overall. APU or EPU makes the decision easy for .me Schneider doesn't offer them. Driver comfort is a huge issue. Good luck and be safe.

When I first started. Out of the gate I started with Roehl.

I believe I got "Top Notch" training and EVERYONE was great. I HAVE NO COMPLAINTS against the company. They were great to me. The reason I left was personal. But they were great, AND I see alot of their trucks along I-80 where is where I "haunt". I recommend them for new drivers if they'll hire you.

I don't know about Schneider. I hear both sides.

Good Luck in whoever you choose!

Both of these companies fall into the career company. You could easily find a home there and drive your entire career there. You have made a wise choice grasshopper.

The 14 on 7 off is not something that I could do. But if you are young and home time is important maybe. The 14 is no problem but you do not get paid for the 7. Too much time off by my thinking. Limits your pay. Good luck.

Roehl amuses me, but that's more on account of one recruiter than the company.
Disclaimer: I've never driven for either company, so I can't speak from firsthand experience. Just from what I've observed, both companies get a lot of positive feedback from their drivers, both offer a bit of diversity, so if you wanted to get into something other than your typical door slammer wagon, there are options. Schneider has a tanker division, whereas Roehl does not, so if you were looking at a future with tankers (something Chinatown is particularly quick to endorse), Schneider has that. Roehl has a more substantial flatbed division, so that would probably be a better outfit if you wanted to get your feet wet with flatbeds.
APUs are nice, but don't let them cause you to get a case of tunnel vision.

Spent 4 1/2 years at Schneider, none with Roehl.

I can no longer recommend SNI...just saw too many things going against the driver over time. Quirky bonus program....limited idling requirements...just to name two.

WitchingHour's post above is excellent as well...take it to heart. Good luck.

think you are referring to the parksmart system. Battery operated cooling system. Unless you are Bulk, you wont have an APU/EPU.
