So considering the situation, this guy might want to look for a company that runs autos AND is taking newbs.... (I think there are a few that run all autos, right?)

also........ maybe this guy can use his cdl in other ways besides otr, like dump, grain haul, lumber yard, moving co., whatever, so he may not be wasting his time or money in that regard.

i dont have anything bad to say about roehl cus i never worked for them but they do expect your driving record work history and everything to be solid and good, the problem i have with al these big companies is that as soon as u go to there orientation the first thing they make u do is drug test and physical, then they tell u all about there company policies afterwards..so if you decide that this company isnt for u and u decide to go home guess what...it shows on your dac that u worked for that company for one day..wich then looks bad on your work history, so i have went to a few orientations with diffrent companies but decided not to work for them, ..jb hunt..us xpress...robinson... and since i was drug tested first and then decided no later...those companies show up when emplyers view my work history...hmm..weird

Well, if he can't shift, I'm glad he's not in our trucks.

Wannabes have to realize the way things are . Carriers know schools will pass anybody . If they need 10 drivers and only have 10 come to orientation they may reject 3 and end up with 7 . So if they need 10 they bring in 13 or 14 .Now it may happen all 14 are pretty decent . Too bad . they will still find a reason to reject 4 .

I'm kinda new at this but in my 30 years driving and teaching 50 plus people to drive a truck (all standard) I have never seen anyone suck so bad that they ruined a trans/clutch. I find it hard to belive that this guy was the first.

No one said he ruined a transmission or that he would. Roehl said they would not feel comfortable with him under a load. That could be 40 tons of mayhem rolling down the road. Better to be safe than kill a family.
