If I'm not mistaken. In Kentucky you have to already have a dot exam and medical long form completed before testing for the permit.

Thank You for this helpful post!

FYI, in New York State, in order to renew a CDL, one must have a DOT exam, but they only wanted to see the short form.
-
GA has started to require a declaration form to renew CDL. Looks like the Department of Driver Services here is going the same route as NY

Guess I'm gonna go downtown Monday and talk to them and see what all I need to do to test and see if I need to go ahead and get a psychical before testing.

Hi Booth, I am also looking to get trained by a company at their school. Roehl is on my short list too. I have it down to Maverick, Roehl, Prime and Celadon. I am really interested in the home time long term but willing to work whatever I need to for training and to get experience the first year.

Seems like roehl is the way to go. Heard few bad things but mostly good. Seems like a very good starter company and they'll pay for the schooling. Seems like they have great training. I'm def ready to start a new career but have to wait a couple weeks and get some money set back to cover my bills while at school.

Another question. I've been reading thru a lot of forums about roehl on here. Been seeing where some are going to marshfield and then having to go to Gary in for securement training. Does every new driver have to go to Wisconsin then Indiana? Or is this all done in Wisconsin if your going through rdtc?

If you are going to Roehls' school and are a Flatbed driver you will go to both Marshfield and Gary. If im not mistaken Securement training is only in Gary.
You are van or reefer you are done once you are finished at Marshfield.
No matter where you start after a while Gary will become your new home. A load of our load go thru Gary so we can fuel at the terminal, which I love. Free showers chat with real humans (lol), have some food delivered and go to bed. When I know im going thru Gary if at all possible I try to plan my trip so that where im shutting down. That way no matter what time im pulling in I know I will have parking at the terminal. : )
Smokin if home time is important to you Roehl definitely has the best home time. Prime is 4 weeks out with 4 days off. Maverick is 3 weeks out with idk how many days off and Celadon I have no clue about. Roehl worst case scenario is 14 days out I think 3 off.
Home time has never matter to me because I truly like staying out. So I stay out for over a month and then I take 7 days off. I also like being able to change it so if I say im going to be out for a month and I need to get by the house for a little bit I just let my fleet manager know and he takes care of it. I think I might have the best fleet manager. 9.5 times out of 10 he knows my next move. He can always count on me and I can always count on him either getting me enough miles or a pretty decent check. -
Just out of curiousity how long is the securment training in Gary. I plan on going flatbed national. Hometime is not a big deal to me as long as I get home every few weeks.
Is securment training directly after rdtc? And does roehl provide transport and lodging at securment training? If possible I'd prefer go directly from rdtc to Gary. I'd like to get all the training I need done and completed at once or as soon as possible.
Also I picked up the paperwork for dot psychical. Would it be recommended to contact roehl recruiter before having a pyschical to see if they recommended a certain clinic?
