ive been looking at rohell as well sounds like a great place to work. i was leaning on doing their schooling there as well. or should i go to a local driving school and get my cdls first.
thanks Bryan -
That man is 110% correct! Roll Tide Roll!!! But honestly I have a debate on my hands, I want a career in flat bed and eventually work my way up into heavy haul. I have an interview with Averitt Express this Friday. The downside is I must start in the van division for 6 months before making the transition over to flats. The backup plan is Roehl, McElroy, and Boyd Bros. (If hiring area doesn't change) Any advice???

All I can tell you is Roehl's school is pretty dang good. They operate like the school i went too but you would start out learning to drive the roehl way.
Id say go with which ever fits your needs. Not many companies beat roehl's hometime. Plus you start out at pretty good pay. Just look at all the companies you mentioned and choose. I can't tell you to work for a certain one because it may not fit you. Roehl works for me, others it may not. I just like my hometime. I stay out 20-24 days and get a week off, not many companies can beat that.
EthanKash6972, SPC WHIGHAM and seebell6203 Thank this. -
Good deal! I like how Roehl offered 11 on 3 off, that's why I was eyeing them. Likely they will be my second choice to being home every weekend. Thanks for info!DrtyDiesel Thanks this. -
I've made up my mind about becoming a O/O and decided to do my time with Roehl then jump over to ATS where they mainly do heavy haul and have a great lease program... Don't get me wrong, Roehl is a great place for basic flatbed loads.. I just want to do the big stuff... Right now I have a oversize load and think its great.. The fact that everyone see's what your hauling and they must think you have to be a good driver to wear a oversize banner is a nice touch to my ego.. Most likely, if all goes well then all I need is 6 months exp. I talked to a few ATS drivers and all of them say it's a great company do be with. So from here on out, I'm going to get as many oversize loads as possible to add to my resume.
DrtyDiesel Thanks this. -
I've thought about ATS also, I really want one of those coronados.

Yeah I love the way a Coronado looks... One of the guys I talk to said he was leasing his for around 700 a week... That's everything including tags, permits and insurance...

So you want to get into heavy haul to stroke your ego?

How is the 50 question test? Are they strict on the pre trip and brake test? Do you have to be perfect?
