Roehl Training in Wisconsin

I am starting Roehl training program in Marshfield on June 18th. Has anyone been to the traing there? I'm leaving from South Carolina to go there(driving rental car). My question(s) are how far is the training from the Stardust Motel where they will put me for lodging. My recruiter(Carrie-very good recruiter) sent offer letter and it says that I'm responsible for transportation to the school from lodging. I won't have a vehicle there, and don't want the expense of renting a car for three weeks. Do they have a local bus that can get me close to the school? Walking distance? Also, what can I expect during the training? Thanks in advance! Any info appreciated. God Bless!

 

Thanks Whispers and milesto go. I do want to learn the right way. I'd rather do it safely, cause accident/violations will go on MY license, and right now, that's my meal ticket for my family. If I lose my license, I can't drive. The company won't really be out anything. Insurance is there for a reason!

 

Do you think I will be picked up by an employee? Maybe another call to Carrie would be in order. I just hate to keep asking questions. I was offered the apprentice program, but I'm not sure if that's a good deal or not. I'm not sure about being a trainer, when I haven't even got my ears wet yet. Any thoughts?

 

I did call Carrie this morning and I found out that the school is about 3 miles from the motel. She told me that, yes, I was responsible for trans, and that maybe I could get a ride from another student. It didn't sound to me like I was going to be picked up. Hopefully the other students won't be in the same boat as I am and I can find one that is willing. Hmmm, three miles walking at 2 miles an hour, have to be there at 7am....sounds like I better take my running shoes.lol

 

Like I said I am a newbie and haven't even got wet behind the ears yet!lol I "believe" that the training center in Georgia is for Orientation(experienced drivers going with Roehl) and Wisconsin is for newbies just starting with no CDL yet. I could be 100% wrong. I guess that's what I am assuming. I think you can do the Orientation in Georgia or Indiana if I'm not mistaken. I would like to think if the company does regular CDL training in Georgia, that they would send me there. Another possibility is that I told recruiter I wanted to start ASAP as I'm unemployed at this time(by choice) and wanted to get started. Funny thing is that I was supposed to go with CR England June 2nd in Texas, and thanks to this site and God, I got out of that! Roehl's recruiter called at around 4pm and I was supposed to be on the Greyhound for Texas at 7:35pm. Tell me God ain't good!! I didn't find out I was going with CR England until the Wednesday before the Friday I was supposed to leave and I was at the beach on my "vacation" with the family before I left, and I didn't have access to my computer to check the company out until I got back on Thurs. I was already looking at this sight, but didn't pay much attention until I found out what company I was "pre-hired" with( I went through an on-line site called Drivers CDL Staffing( apparantly CR ENGLAND in disguise) and recruiter never told me the company until I happened to ask on that Weds. He made it sound so good-no contract, cash price was $1995, ect. Kinda like the military, recruiters only answer the questions you ask). Thank you Roehl for calling!!!! I was as good as being in Texas as we speak! The recruiter from Roehl is extremely nice(Carrie) and she stated she would rush my application and answered all my questions. I called CRE's recruiter who wasn't happy,which I could understand, and told me I was making a mistake and that he was looking out for me 'cause he was my "friend"(thought that was funny since he didn't even know me). I told him that he would be the first one I'd call if I found out I did make a mistake, but after reading on the site, I probably wouldn't call him again! Anyway, so now I'm sitting at home waiting. Roehls cash price is around $2,500 and I have to get there on my own, but to me it'll all be worth it if what I've been reading is true! Sorry I rambled on there, but I hope I answered your question.
