    7/7 - Work 7 days, off 7 days. You'll be slipseating.
    7/3-4 - Work 7 days, off 3. Work 7 days, off 4. You'll be slipseating.

I think I've seen a few companies with the 7/3-4 option. I chose the regular national fleet simply because I want to be making money more days of the year. The big plus... I get to park my truck about 100 feet from where I sit right now. No slipseat.

The flex fleet crowd swears they run more weekly miles, the national fleet say they do, or each swears the other is getting all the miles. I run national and do alright. If you aim for 500 a day you will be more than fine. People who slip seat for awhile get used to doing it and swear by it. I can see some real advantages like not having to cool my heals for a day while my truck is being serviced. I have so much junk in my truck it takes me about 4-6 hours when I get a new one to switch. Course as a plus my wife likes that I take up very little closet space here at home as that most of my clothes are in my truck(I hate doing laundry while on the road). I do enjoy being able to take the truck home however and not having to leave my personal vehicle at a yard. Also I'd be really annoyed if the dude I shared a truck with was a pig and left our ride a mess. That seems to be a common complaint I hear from the flex fleet crowd.

You've made me feel a little better about going for the national fleet since I see all these claims that regional gets the most miles and most days off. I was kind of worried that'd prove to be true. One thing for me is I would have had to drive all the way to Gary, IN to pick up my truck if I decided to do a slipseat option. The few extra miles would have been wasted in gas money, anyway, but now I don't feel I'll get cheated out of miles. How long have you been with Roehl?

About nine years or long enough to know better. I sure you will find yourself swearing the flex guys are taking all the gravey, I do it myself sometimes. I find that if I get a good run leaving the house my entire time out is great. Conversely if I get a dog coming out I try to go home early just to reset my luck.

Slipseating means you have to leave your truck in the terminal and someone else drives it. The upside is you don't have to figure out where to park it at home, the downside is if you live a long way from the terminal then you have drive home a long way.

Thanks for the info. What was stumping me was that 7/7 split.

I am not looking to be in a slipseating or team situation. I too don't think it would work out very well sharing my workplace/home-on-the-road. I have plenty of room at the house to park anyway.

I live between Charlotte and Greensboro so I can easily commute either way and there are many companies around here. I am going to go with a company that has terminal in one of these areas, initially.

Mainly trying to get up the gumption to go ahead and do this thing.

Thanks again and sorry for temporarily hijacking the thread.

Well, the worst thing about that is the guy who drives the truck while you're off could be a slob. Who knows what you'd find when you got back?

You could get a slob for sure. You'll be cleaning up after him.

But you could also get a clean-freak. If you leave one spot on the floor with a speck of dust, he may ##### and moan about it. Just stay away from that slip-seat deal and avoid both these head cases.

If you have a friend or someone that can take the other spot in the slip seat at least you will know who and how the other person is. See if they can pair you up if you and a buddy go together.

    Just something to think about.
