Yeah I've had some experiance.
Pros.... its not too bad.
You're home every night.
Cons.... you get to play in trash. Lots of nasty, nasty trash.
Landfills are horrble, uneven ground, tire slicing mess.
Easy to roll the truck. They are top heavy.
You get sick more, that goes back to playing in other peoples trash...
Theres more but really its not too bad. You go in, do your thing and go home. -
I hauled industrial waste for a couple of years. Sometimes (way more than I could stand) I had to use a roll-off frame trailer. The singles weren't too bad, but the doubles were a nightmare.
And although I was hauling industrial waste, many times it was dumped in municipal landfills (garbage dumps). YUCK!!!
I quit while I still had all of my fingers, and before I was decapitated by a broken cable.
Never again!!!

When I did it I was fortunate enough to have a truck with the military style hoist on it, in other words no cable. The hook just reaches back and yanks the can up on the truck. Can't beat it...
