If you are a handyman DIY type of person, this is what I have...
https://www.amazon.com/Senville-SEN...55887053&s=gateway&sprefix=sennv&sr=8-1-spell
3500 Watt Super Quiet Inverter Generator
It requires knowledge of A/C, flaring lines and electrical and welding in order to install it.
Besides the items above, I spent an additional $100 in steel for the mounting bracket and stainless hardware.
It's currently costing me about $7 a day to run.
If you buy the Predator generator, remove the charcoal canister and throw it in the trash. Vent the gas tank outside the case and block off the air cleaner hose. Any bad reviews you see for that generator are caused by that charcoal canister filling with gas and causing the engine to run rich.HopeOverMope, cjb logistics and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
And the reason I went with the split AC is because I couldn't buy a new Tripac anywhere in the US for love nor money. They are all spoken for. That since may have changed but I kind of doubt it. This setup will pay itself back in a couple of months just with the fuel savings. I gained 1.5 mpg just by not idling the truck.

Oh... and I forgot to mention the best thing...
You can set it at 70 degrees and go to bed when it's 90° outside, then a cold front moves through and say it gets down 30° outside. It'll still be 70 in your truck. The system heats and cools as needed.starmac, tommymonza and rank Thank this. -
