It's 20" from the back wall of the sleeper but you could probably get away with 14.5 to 15. Just enough for it to be able to draw air between the cab and the unit.

Unless I had a custom built house on the truck, there is no way I would mount a heavy rooftop unit on a regular sleeper, that has not been built for the unit.
My trucks are old enough that idling them does not hurt as much as the new ones, and Inever idlesd unless the temps were pretty bad along with humidity, so I doubt if fuel savings would have ever paid for an apu and the maintenenceRideandrepair Thanks this. -
Ive made a habit of not owning anything too nice to put a 4" angle grinder to on a wim. Ymmv.

When apu's first started hitting the scene, most were plumbed into the exhaust, but that didn't last long, as they can be mounted a long way from it at times and I guess it is just cheaper not too.
