Is it of significant that the company be based in region where you live?

With the Swift and CR England cases I think they have to send you home to get a real license, not a temporary. May be the only consideration if there is a comp any in your state you can get your CDL with. No idea what the PIA factor is for getting a CDL with an out of state driving test.

Really just check with the DMV (because a recruiter will say anything) about out of state testing.

I know England had so many problems they paid the FMCSA for an exemption to keep students in trucks on a paper permit. Of course they are rather a scumbag outfit.

Couple good companies to get started with in Tennessee.

If you want to get home more than every month or two it's VERY important. The company will have the majority of their freight in the region they are based.
