I liked my books.
But the ghost of one or two particularly good trainers growl from that empty seat when I have faced a problem for which there isnt anything at all excepting what YOU choose in a few moments, hurry up you are running late with your problem already.
I hate to say it but there will be also days that home is pretty far away and you have to run on what you have yourself to get it done. Asking yourself what am I doing here? AUGH. Just remember that cheerful motivation to go trucking. You asked for it.
To 157, I was a part time detailer briefly for a dealer and one of my bosses had a demo car (A ... plaything given to her for her posit in the ivory tower.) covered in dog hair. Twice a week hurry up and get it out.
I growled at her shut up and shoot the #### dog and stop it with this particular car you are trying to impress your date with.
It wasnt long before me and my big mouth landed me to a different line of work.buddyd157 and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -
You would be amazed at the number of local drivers for large carriers with less than a year exp. some new drivers get very lucky. Right place right timex1Heavy, tscottme and FlaSwampRat Thank this.

Sometimes that luck is a form of a question. Sonny, can you do this?
Don't sit there and think over. Get to it. It might be the best work you ever see. If it's not you would be out of it before too long.tscottme, FlaSwampRat and Linte_Loco Thank this. -
You quit very quickly. My personal opinion, I dont know if trucking is for you. It doesnt seem like you knew what you were getting into. This is a very unique world. You may be one of those people that have a fear of missing out on something at home. That will cause you to leave the house too late when you go home. The first thing you will have to do, if you even want a shot of making it out here, get out of your feelings. You will have to become a little more mentally tough. A trainer may be the type of person that is way out of your comfort zone. You deal with it. Out here, its drivers from all walks of life. Also, if you quit like this, companies will look at you as the type to abandon the truck or quit under a load. Another thing, you better be able to handle changes....if you can't do that, you will have a hard time in trucking because curve balls will be thrown at you constantly. If I come off a little harsh, I apologize....I am giving you the cold hard truth....ive been out here awhile, and there are guys who've been out here even longer so head the adviceLepton1, RERM, Texas_hwy_287 and 6 others Thank this.

i am banking on, he forgot how to back up, make turns, do a pre/post trip, etc.
one hooked fire hydrant or sideswiping a parked car during the road test, will be a very rude awakening for him.Texas_hwy_287, x1Heavy and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -
Oh yes indeedy.
We here were fortunate to hire quality professionals who had 18 or 19 year old people who were almost doing the work to a level of workmanship to make me smile. Without much from the Master or Journey man overseeing him.
That little one someday will have a whole City if not more at his feet any time they have something break in the house. They would be the lucky ones.
We had in our time after 2003 tried to have Jobs with crew that includes ex service people with battle fatique a old term but that's how i know it. A little bit of forest on my old land gives them solace and peace as they do the required work from time to time. It's not much but no trouble because we had a neighbor who was a active duty medic on hand for them if need be in those days we did not need much. Its all there.
That's probably what holds me to Arkansas a little more because we are free. And the young employees are going to be in about 15 years training others their age. Maybe a little more. And they will stay around to continue doing that work, not take off and flight away from their homes like so many. -
