And try to get the laundry done in the night when no one is doing it.

Nothing is frustrating then pouring quarters into a over humid drying just throwing more wet on your clothes. Then heating it.

I used to be denim everything. Toss it all into a bag, dump into washer, keep a eye on it. No trouble.

    Much.

Put on your big boy britches and get over it.

You are a desperate driver.. Looking for a job with worse than zero experience, a quit at the first issue experience. You will only be accepted by a desperate carrier. Anyone else is gonna say if you couldnt make it with a professional hand holder how are you gonna make it without one.

Find a local company doing the work you are interested in, probably dryvan, and ask who is the worst outfit in town. Go there with your cdl, medical card and a few days of clothes and say you can start today. Theyll probably be immigrants, youll be on a 1099 and lucky to get paid, they wont even add you to the insurance.

Go there for 3 weeks or so and survive. Then go to the next better place and say you worked for the last one. 3 months later the next. This is how i made it in the door.

I love it, I desperately want to drive truck, BUT do not want to go anywhere, what are my options. lol
No clue as to your location, but you may get a job in a dump truck or something if someone is desperate enough to put a newbie in one and be home with family or friends, before it gets dark every day.

I think a lot of drivers are forgetting what it was like when they first started driving. All the unknown stuff. They don't train you on everything very good. They push you thru the training and if you pass. They push you out into truck and down the road and hope you make it.

When everything is new it can seem like to much. I remember just finding were the truck stop are was a big deal. Today I know and don't even think about that. Learning to look at the the entire USA as just a long drive to work or as your work area is something to experience. I was a trainer for a little while and their is lots of stuff people don't talk about. I had one guy who would sleep in all his clothes even his shoes. He was worried out taking his shoe off because of feet smell. He did not have shoe power to fix that. I did because I knew it would be needed. You have all that stuff plus learning to drive a truck.

OP, from what I read, you need to do something else. it is that simple.

I wish others would not beat around the bush and try to pick this all apart, you are not able to handle the lifestyle or the responsibility.

I disagree when people say you can't do it or not learn because you quit after a week. I failed my road test and they told me not everyone was cut out to be a truck driver. That was 24 years ago. I can look back and see how bad the training. They had the info on how to drive a truck. They just wouldn't take the time to actually show you stuff. When a driving instructor says you not good enough, you think he must know what he talking about. The truth is was not a good instructor just like most trainers are not good at training. They don't take the time to answer the questions and part of that maybe because they don't know the answers themselves.

If you are scared of otr why don't you just go local? I know that has probably been said in here already but don't do something you don't think will work for you or has a track record of not working.

A long time ago a rascal said do I want to do trucking or play spaceman? Plain language.

You probably don't know this but every year or time that goes by that you do not work and over time increase income, it will matter later at some point when SSA pulls your lifetime wages. It will matter then.

Im pretty sure that will always be home, but get going already.

Contact Equity Transportation. They offer training & regional runs w/no touch freight & no contracts. Pay pretty good as well. I'm heading there soon.

He never mentioned he was told to quit, he just quit because he couldn't take it even for a week. It is hard for me to think he will ever be able to, the lifestyle isn't for everybody.
Many guys on this very site is not cut out for it, doesn't even get out of their trucks, or claims not too, because they don't want to associate with truckers, but at least they did not have to go home to mama in a week.
