When i as going to school last year In Gary I was riding down Cline ave parellel to the access road to the motel.
Semi riding alongside me on the other side of the raeveen .
Suddenly the lights are coming right at me than disappear down the raeveen.
I whip around the corner at the light and go up the access road to find the semi on its side at the bottom of a 20 foot raeveen.
It was pitch black out and I don't do blood and guts, soo I called 911.
2 minutes later the driver crawls out of the passenger door on the upside and borrows my phone to call his boss a mile down the road.
Boss shows up and talks to me. Tells me the employee just picked up the trailer full of groceries at the yard and seemed tired so he told him to get some sleep.
Guy ignored him and traveled, didn't make it a Mile before he fell asleep.Badmon and SingingWolf Thank this. -

This is what I was thinking of...taken from jjkeller.com.
"Personal conveyance
FMCSA is replacing Question 26 of the regulatory guidance for Section 395.8. The revised text includes numerous examples to assist carriers and drivers in knowing whether the driver qualifies to operate the truck or bus for personal conveyance.
A driver may record time operating a CMV for personal conveyance (i.e., for personal use or reasons) as off-duty only when the driver is relieved from work and all responsibility for performing work by the motor carrier, regardless of whether the vehicle is laden. Previously, drivers could only log “off duty” for personal conveyance if the vehicle was unladen. The new guidance describes seven scenarios when the provision may be used and eight when it does not apply."
This link has a pdf that offers more information - info that I was using to pc before I changed to my home-every-night job.
