So furious I could spit nails!
I stopped in for some lunch. When I sat at the counter, the skinny old blond waitress was so busy getting her panties .....well, flirting.... with a young truck driver she stood there chitter chattering about nothing with him for five minutes before acknowledging me, sitting three feet away from her. She flopped the menu down in front of me with a glass of water and then went back to chattering at that young guy.
Eventually, she asked what I would like to drink. Since I was ready to order anyway I placed my request all at once. A bowl of soup and a hot roast beef sandwich off the special board. The soup was good and I have no complaints about the speed of delivery of the food and drink. However, when I went to take a bite of roast beef, I found a short black hair in it. No big deal, just bring me another one.
The waitress never returned. Meanwhile, I finished the soup and waited some more. Finally, I was able to get the attention of another waitress after getting eye contact several times. She asked whether I'd like a box. I pointed out the hair and she said, "Eewww" and removed the plate. Without asking whether I would like a replacement or to order something else. Well, I went in there because I was hungry. I wanted to eat. But she never returned until she came back 10 minutes later to present me with a bill for the soup and the pop.
So I asked whether I could get something to eat. I'm hungry. She thought I was finished and didn't want anything else. Huh? She didn't ask! She gave me a menu and walked away. Well, when I get irritated, I tend to not want to eat. I was irritated. She was doing other stuff around the restaurant and not paying attention to anything that didn't have outdoor plumbing. WTF???
Finally, when she was getting someone a drink, I put the menu down and said, "Nevermind." I went and paid my bill for a soup and a pop and left.
My complaint? Nobody asked whether everything was okay or whether I needed anything (some butter would have been nice) and when there was a problem, the food was taken and an assumption was made that I was finished. Regardless of the fact I continued to sit there waiting for her to return or make some indication I would get to eat something. The food looked very good and it would have been nice to eat some of it.
I was not rude and did not make a scene. I was quiet and minded my manners. The return on this was being soundly ignored and, near as I could tell, chased out of the restaurant. Not overtly...it was taking the plate, not asking whether I would like a replacement or even something else and then giving me a bill. I have no trouble paying for my stuff. That's not the issue. The issue is, I stopped here because I was hungry and due directly to the actions of the wait staff, I am still hungry.
So now, I'm moving on to Fargo to get my trailer brakes fixed. And a meal. From someone who doesn't mind me being there to spend my money.

Yeah, been there and done that... I usually solve that problem by taking my custom elsewhere. I'm pretty patient when it comes to dealing with food servers, although I'll often mack out of my cooler or hit the buffet to eliminate that whole time-wasting scene. And getting angry? Injun, I'm disappointed in you... don't go postal, just walk away and patronize a different establishment in the future.

What town west of Fargo was this Tesoro? And I am like you,in that,I dont eat when p#ssed...Hey,maybe the new get p#ssed,Lose weight diet??
-
I have stopped there a couple of times, but never ate there.
Apparently it takes an act of Congress, so I guess, not from me. -
Injun...I'm surprised......You are a very straightforward and.... obviously vocal woman.....
The manager should have been notified.....Albeit respectfully and with tact....
How else is poor service going to stop if we all don't speak up when things are not as they should be? -
I was irritated enough to just leave. I just got the feeling that even if I did say something, I would get a ho-hum response. If it was just one of them, I would have taken the time. Unfortunately, it seems systemic at this one. The attitude was pretty much the same across the board. Nobody cared to ask or listen. So why waste my time on the manager?
As I said, I did not create a scene. I made polite requests throughout, although my unhappiness was expressed.
This was at Rothsay, MN...not west of Fargo.Bumpy Thanks this. -
Sounds like a "penny tip" place. Leaving a penny says what you thought the service was worth. Had the service been good, the tip would have been good.

A penny tip?
That's more like it! Make it a Canadian penny while you're at it... or maybe a half peso. School those pilgrims... bwahahahahaha!!!
