last week i got approved for WIA in alabama, ill be going with esd truck school in decatur. after that everything went south! water pump went out and my radiator sprung 2 leaks. after checking all the junkyards around i find the radiator, well to add more salt to the wound my wonderful ranger has an evil twin. there are 2 kinds of rangers like mine, lol, but they are different. long story short i got the wrong radiator and just rigged it in and it works fine. the water pump is also different. the cheap 1 is for the other style (imagine that) which is 15.00 but mine was 40. after getting everything replaced the truck is fine. i start school on monday and i hope my luck gets better. ill continue updating everyone as i go. im pretty excited about driving the BIG TRUCK, as my kids say. wish me luck, ill need it. oh yea im wanting to go with schneider and the school told me they dont recruit there.so ill be sending them my app in my final days of class. thanks for all the info on here i almost went to england for their training, that was close...
until oct 16....

Good Luck !!!!!!!!!
things have to get better, right ?? -
If you've had bad luck, and it sounds like you have, make your own good luck. Do the best you can at school and learn as much as possible. The more you know, the better off you'll be when bad luck tries to present itself in the future.
Don't wait to apply with Schneider either. Get an application off to them pending your completion of school. A pre-hire letter will get you even more motivated.
Good luck and keep us posted as to your school experiences. -
thanks for the advice, ill go put in my app. right now

Good Luck in school and be safe out there

hey guys, is freight good right now? if not is it gettin better than the last couple of yrs?
-
I don't think you have to worry about freight for awhile. I am sure you will get more miles than you think you can handle. Holidays are coming so everything should be humming anyway! The good thing is by the time you complete school and are with your trainer you should have some snow to practice driving through and maybe even throw some chains. Being from Alabama you probably haven't had a lot of winter driving experience. This is always the best time of year for new drivers to be out there with trainers. Especially the newbies from the south! Trust me, I am Florida! Man, the first time I went through Wyoming in the winter holy moly! Didn't take long to figure out what the gates on the highways were for! Also figured out what the really high angled fences that stretched from one end of Wy to the other were for! Out there you can run into a blizzard with not a cloud in the sky! Now you will be thinking of me the first time you run across 80 up there! Good luck to you and welcome to the forum!

I think RESPECT has what it takes to be a trucker. His radiator experience reminds me of the car trip I made in 1968. A friend told me that Tri-State was hiring. I threw my tool box into the trunk of our 1957 Chevy four-door six and headed for Joplin. Along the way, the generator quit. I parked behind an auto parts store and exchanged generators. After sleeping in the car that night, I made it to Joplin and passed their road test. Before the year was out, we bought we bought a new Pontiac.
RESPECT Thanks this. -
