I'm taking a little vacation from Kalamazoo, MI down to Jacksonville, NC and I'm trying to avoid the Ohio toll road. What can you tell me about US-35 between Dayton, Oh and Charleston, WV. Is it a 2 or 4 lane road, lots of little towns, etc? Thanks in advance

Ohio Toll Road in a car is not expensive. In a truck, fully loaded you are looking at about 35 dollars, in a car probably less than 10.
If you want to sight see, go for the back road, if you don't have a lot of time, stay on the big road.
All the stopping and going in all the small towns uses more fuel than staying at highway speeds, so whatever savings you have from skipping the toll road is lost. -
