So I’m looking at the job boards at TDA here in Fontana and wondering how to figure out if a route is worth it. Before you get into the Swift bashing I get it. Ha-ha. I think this topic might be helpful to a lot of new drivers.

The route runs 7 days a week from Oxnard, to the Bay Area. They need 4 drivers. You go up loaded and come back empty. Some trips to Las Vegas and back to Oxnard as well.

Google maps says it’s 370mi to SF from Oxnard. That’s about all I know. How would you determine what you could earn on this route. The listed CPM is .49 to .51.

Average speed through the central coast is what about 50mph in a mega-speed restricted truck figuring in traffic and delays?
So without knowing what it is or delivery times etc is 71/2 hours a reasonable transit time? Could this route be done 5 times a week basically running on recaps?

Am I just ####ed in the head and brain damaged for trying to figure this out?

    Thanks for any help.

No, 370 miles one way?, with all the traffic issues that route will have on it, no way you can run 3,700 mpw (370*2*5) and your hours and layovers will be all over the map trying to maximize your earnings potential (you will be forced to hit rush hour some days, either morning or afternoon). I'd be surprised if you could accumulate 2,800 miles in a 7 day span (or 4 round trips)

Some of those California speed limits are very reasonable
    But
If youre headed down the middle of the state
    It sucks
    No reason for it there
    Dead head
    That far
    That much
    No way

3,700 miles can be done in a 65 mph truck but you need long trips, wide open spaces, and with little traffic and construction issues, but in and out of the bay area 5 times a week will kill any momentum you can get going.

    It is 55.

I think @STexan was just talking about how it would be possible, not that it’d be legal.

it's 55 unless you are an illegal alien then it's unlimited but if your a drunk illegal they frown on anything over 80
