It always amazes me that some of these non driving clowns who have several accidents while striking fixed objects never seem to see that running into things has never been a part of driving. They never accept that damages cost companies money that could have been spent on things like better equipment and driver benefits and pay.. as long as this element stays in the industry, things wont get any better than they have decayed into. There are companies who do have people to fix small damages to equipment to avoid insurance involvement.. but it doesn't change the expense at all. It just lowers the time the equipment is down. They still have to pay for the employees they pay for the materials for repairs and they pay for the downtime of equipment that these "drivers" do. When these drivers get shown the door.. they are on instantly onsites like this declaring that all of their damages were "minimal".. and how mean the industry at large is... for great drivers like them who are the consummate professionals.. LOL!! Give me a break!

and I'm sure thats true. But you want to run 10 trucks, you aint driving all 10 trucks. This is a mutual situation, here. Like I said, I can see how unions came to be in trucking.

This is my favorite post thus far on this thread... Trust me rookie... We "Grandpa's" have watched the new drivers take the industry where it is today.. The old hands didn't turn the industry into the lifestyle trucker nonsense that it's become. Many of us old hands watch people churn in and out of this industry by the thousands.. yet we're still here.. and we aren't on websites declaring how we are being abused by companies because we cannot seem to go a week without causing needless expenses to THEIR equipment and to customer's property...

If your car is in the trucking company's parking area and someone "rubs some aluminum off of it".. how would you describe it or is it something that is just part of life and they need to accept it and just get over it? I think its time for a poll question.

Wasnt even addressing you in that post.

I cant stand people who act high n mighty, cast stones, but live in glass houses.

Lemme guess. You started driving before a cdl license became an actual requirement, right? Before dac. Before the internet. Back to a time where women typed up all the paperwork and people used rotary phones??? And now you want to kick back and scoff. What a jerk.

Who says I was addressing you? I have "generic'd" the answers so some easily offended reactionaries who also tend to be poor drivers didn't get their feelings hurt (again).
You seem to not be able to stand lots of things.. also rather typical of the rookie off to a bad start
Yes, the same as some of the "grandpa's" here that you can't measure up to
Not sure when DAC even started.. bu they don't exist anymore.. but continue
Yeah.. by quite a few years
Not women specifically... but there were a lot of payphones, lots of truckstops that still had cafe's and drivers weren't generally a pack of lower primates.
Kick back? LOL!!! That's hilarious! Scoff? At a personality type who drags the whole industry down? Scoff is a good word.. disdain is another good word. I've done all the proving that I need to do.. there are a lot of rookies who are continually having to start over and over proving that they can operate a tractor trailer without running it into something. Sadly the industry has had to accept "driving by feel" by far too many drivers who will never get out of rookie status. Churn... churn.. churn..

Good to know you came up when things werent so tight. And for your info, since you assume you know my type and call me a primate, I could work circles around you everyday of the week and twice on sunday and my driving record is spotless. And I believe when you say primate, youre referring to ummmm, those who were not born here but yet are now driving big rigs.

Scoff away gramps. Just know that this industry turne into a toilet under your watch, and now you sit back and laugh about it.

Was that supposed to be meaningful?
I've known, retrained and took a lot of your type to the bus station (after their third and even forth "chance".
You have any idea how many people have said that to we "grandpas" who aYou have any idea how many people have said that to we "grandpas" who are no longer driving? And unless you're working as a lumberjack .. you're just fluffing. As for your driving record being spotless... You're work record as it relates to damaging equipment isn't.
Not at all, you're the one who is equating a race to the term. Genius.. but know that a lot of the people YOU'RE referring to as primates are not one here crying about ripping into a trailer with a tree or how unfair companies are for expecting that a driver not run into trees on a daily basis.
How am I or any of the other "grandpa's" responsible for yours and several other "drivers" who lack the ability to drive a truck? Those who drive for a living are not in charge of the industry. Good drivers drive, their lives are unchanged by the churn and unchanged by others poor performance. The industry has done its own damage to itself trying to recruit thousands of people to an industry that cannot and will not be described honestly to those who think of the industry as a "lifestyle".
