During my 12 years out here, I don't think I have ever seen better advice.

That is a preventable accident. You accidentally turned into the wrong address and had you been paying attention to the signage, it would have been prevented. It happens. Just tighten up.

How does one use those codes? Are they universal or specific to Schneider?

Not Every One Is Cut Out To Drive 18 Wheels!!

Trucking Is NOT An Unemployment/Unemployable Solution.

YOUR DRIVING & CRIMINAL RECORDS DETERMINE YOUR EMPLOYABILITY!!

You Have To PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR ENVIRONMENT.
You Can Park On Streets BEFORE entering Facility Property, regardless of Location, Just STOP AND ENGAGE 4-WAY-FLASHERS!!

GPS is a SUGGESTION. It's NOT CONFIRMATION. (general position sensor).

GET A ROAD ATLAS. IT COVERS 50 STATES.
LEARN WHICH ROUTES ARE NOT TRUCK FRIENDLY!! REGULATIONS/RESTRICTIONS ARE IN ATLAS!!
    WHEN IN DOUBT STOP.
    NOT EVERY OVERPASS IS 13'6"!
    NO TRUCKS ON PARKWAYS!!
    NO PASSING ON SHOULDERS!!
ALWAYS LOCK BOTH DOORS OF YOUR TRAILER (except rollup)!!

Something even sillier. OD will consider it a "Preventable Incident" and you will lose safety bonus if you get stuck in a customer dock that you were delivering at because they didn't plow/treat the doc ramp for snow/ice. Conversely you will get talked sternly to for not attempting the delivery.

Specific to Schneider and work with both our dispatch software and navigation to pull information from out database.

If you trust your CDL to a Qualcomm Navigo GPS you don't care much about your CDL. Dispatching a wrecker or tow truck to rescue their truck is a big deal for most companies, especially companies that replace thousands and thousands of drivers every year. If they just wanted a robot to blindly follow a faulty GPS they would not have hired someone with a professional driving license, put them in a truck with a steering wheel and a windshield.

As someone finally experiencing what the younger generation is like in the workforce, all I can say is we had better be studying our Chinese language textbooks because there is zero hope for this country. "I want to do as little as possible, do it in a half-*** manner, get a trophy for showing up on time 2 days in a row, and be immune from any customer complaints. Oh, and any company policy I disagree with can't be used to judge my performance. Do I get to be CEO now or does that happen after my 3 month vacation?"

    @Mauriciojar1 --

    Another Schneider veteran here.

One of the advantages of running with/for Schneider is they used to (and I gather, still do) give out a trucking "bible"...or reference manual, to their incoming drivers.

There's a different version for each division. There's one for dry van. There's a different one for intermodal. There's yet another one for bulk (tanker).

While these manuals aren't perfect--they do contain quite a bit of very valuable and useful info on the different areas of successfully driving a big rig.

Should you not already have one of these manuals--when back at a terminal, be sure to ask for one.

Spend some real time reading through what's in that manual...or "bible"....the info in it will later save you from a lot of headaches/problems....like this one.

If you have already done so--go back and do it, again.

In that case--it's time for a "refresher".
