Oh, that pin pulling stunt happened to my buddy when he was on the West coast teaming. I don't know if he was targeted for something he did, or if it was someone who had a problem with the company, but it definitely happened.

I just finished watching a video about the do's and don'ts of delivering to and parking in Memphis.

He regaled viewers with two stories of drivers being shot or beaten because they responded to some female knocking on the tractor.

So, don't park in either Memphis. Best to park at the Flying J in Olive Branch.

Welfare Express forbids drivers from parking in Dallas or Atlanta.

Well you’ve been lucky over the years, because I’ve had 1/2 chains stolen off my load while I slept, and fuel siphoned from my fuel tanks in Louisiana back when fuel was bumping $4.50 a gallon.Unfortunately there are thieving scumbags out here.

Some carriers prohibit drivers from parking in Memphis, West Memphis AND that Mississippi fishhook. I have never seen many problems in Dallas, but to this day I can't understand why if given a choice a driver would park anywhere on I-285 or inside it except a gated terminal. I could write a 5 or 6 thousand word post listing the dangerous places in the US. Before it was closed that TA on 285 in Atlanta was so bad I have seen drivers fired for even buying fuel there. The Petro at least used to have some security. There were 3 places I hated to spend a 10 hour break. Miami, Chicago, and Houston. Just always seem to be there when something happened. In fact, the last time I was in Miami 2 truckers were shot to death very close to where I was.

I once stopped at the T/A in Atlanta at 2 pm on a weekday. After about 30 minutes of observing the activity around me... I decided it was best if I parked somewhere else for the night.

I reckon I'm just not the very bright, yet blessed, type of person. I've hopped freight trains before and gotten off the train in East St Louis (when it stopped) to get a soda and a snack. Only white person for blocks... no one messed with me.
In Memphis, south of Beale street, I'd walk to the local grocery after dark just because I was thirsty. Again, I was the minority....
I never have considered myself to be a 'big' person (6'1 and 220-240lbs) but others seem to. I just never seem to be messed with.
They say that the gods watch out for fools and children......

I my younger days, more than once I wandered into areas I shouldn't be going. Was never messed with. I always wanted to to think that people thought I was either one crazy SOB or the baddest mother on the planet and either way figured it wasn't a good idea to mess with me ... Reality is, more likely they simply didn't give a crap.

I used to take a nap in my day cab on Hegenberger road in Oakland by the Colosseum when I got to tired. Sure you would hear gun fire once in awhile but as long as it wasn't close by you could get some sleep. It was bad in the early 2000s but with how things are today I wouldn't get near the place.
