What kind of fuel tank heaters do you have…..?
Ive also read that the new engines don’t return crap for fuel volume back to the tanks ….so that’s probably a good move.
If it goes lower than -10F mine runs even at the house if I need it the next day ……
Run the truck all night in negative temps or plug it in?

I run (when I run..) western Canada and across 80 and north for the winter. I am running an isx15 cm2350. Rule of thumb are: If below -20c (-4f) may idle or may not - below -25c (-13f) let it idle. Above -20c/-4f, no idling required. It won't idle at 700 it has a 5 minute timer I never got the password to turn that off. Put cruise on and it comes up to 900-1000. Rather have the oil psi around 35 than down around 20 at 700rpm when warm. Just have a webasto bunk heater. Generally, I run AGM batteries, 4 of them. When mine need replacing, that's what it'll get. I also pull a reefer - a jump start system, so I gamble a bit more than I probably would if I didn't have that option. Fires up no problem. Let it idle until coolant and oil at least begin to register on the gauges each (100f). No winterfront needed. For fuel additive, I try to never add anything, it's designed to burn diesel that's what it gets. Canada - never any additive. Fuel is treated differently up here in winter. Western states - WA/OR/MT/WY/etc. If it is going to be cold I'll add anti-gel, I like Howe's. A case of 6 I used to pay $80 something from KT. Just have a davco I can see through wheel well when I stop how clear (or not) the fuel is. Always carry extra filters and of course wrenches to change them, even a jerry can of diesel to prime. A red bottle of 911 just in case. I typically only use 2 or 3 bottles of Howe's per winter. When I get back to where Kwik Trip is in MN/WI/IA, I buy their fuel from the red hose - their treated on-highway winter blend #2 - never treated it myself, never had a problem.

My 4 newest trucks I now have TK Evolutions on which warm the coolant therefore warm the fuel lower then 30 degrees liquid temp. My other trucks must be running for the tank heaters to be getting warmed. I try and spec for zero problems but still try and play it safe.
Edit: I also moved entirely over to power services, the folks who make diesel 911. I have 19 bottles of Howes I gotta get rid of. Had Howes gel last year even with double treatment. The 911 helped me get back going so going with that brand here on out.Dadetrucking305, Rideandrepair, singlescrewshaker and 2 others Thank this. -

Have read many people on here having issues with Howes. I used Polar Power this week. Stuff has been around forever. This was something I always saw the old timers use.
Also read good things about Hotshots on TTR.
