So you would rather run through town with a bunch of traffic sitting at a red light just 30 feet away from that arrester bed probably killing people and totaling your truck as well instead of replacing a hood, rad, steer tires??? Great decision.

I'd rather be driving a truck with a brake system that was properly maintained and adjusted, going down the hill in the proper gear so that I didn't use up the brakes on the way down rendering them useless if/when I needed to stop at the bottom.

But yeah, if the unthinkable happened and I had to choose, I'd be on the air horn alerting traffic at the bottom and I'd take my chances at the intersection rather than intentionally run into a guaranteed wreck. However great the possibility of a wreck at the bottom might be, it is still less than the 100% chance of a wreck by hitting that concrete barrier.

Well if you do that I hope you enjoy prison.

I feel so safe knowing operators like you are sharing the road with me.

No no the best part is there is no gravel :biggrin_25523:

Trucks have lost it at the bottom of that hill before they usually ended up on their side sliding down the road so either way you're totaling the truck. Oh and the guy driving the truck walked away, I think he was wearing a helmet and a neck brace though just in case.

Seriously? How about weighing the risk of killing someone against everyone walking away? It's a truck. They are replaceable. And sure, you might make it through; but if it's an intersection one of your kids might go through, you still making that same choice?:biggrin_25524: :biggrin_25524::biggrin_25524:

Yup. 100% chance of crashing if you take the runaway truck ramp vs. slightly less chance of crashing running the hill.

Of course as I've been saying, it's always best to avoid placing yourself in the position of having to choose one or the other by maintaining your equipment and selecting the proper gear prior to starting down the hill.

There's no thing more precious than a human life. Sure there's a slim chance of escaping unscathed, but the odds are not in your favor taking a runaway into traffic. Even minor contact at runaway speeds would be deadly to the people in cars. If you blow by an escape ramp and kill someone down the hill, you are guilty at the minimum of manslaughter.

My posts on here should prove that I'm no member if the "Internet Safety Nannies," but you need to rethink your macho "I ain't wrecking a truck on purpose!" You're absolutely right that you should never find yourself in a runaway situation, even in the event of mechanical failure; but if you do, "I'm man enough to ride it out," isn't the wisest decision to make. The best back row answer? Yeah, that it probably is...:biggrin_2552:
