I’ve done it. Had a driver sign for my paperwork, he handed it to me and I was on my way. This was back when they started changing the regulations. I wasn’t aware that the new regulations had started. So I did what I had to do. Got the load delivered, done deal. Not long after that I went for my Hazmat. But there was more to it. So in short, I have may hazmat but have never since that day have I had any use for it.

Worst of all: your company would likely be showcased on Mutha Trucker News.

So not like it’s bad if it spills, it just disappears.

And this is not for my but recent competition that’s come to my area and they don’t seem to care about anything.

Every load is the same as standing at the head of the crap table and rolling the dice.

    Eventually you will crap out.

The current insurance will walk away and possibly "Ownership" will go to jail; maybe for a substantial amount of time.

    { I knew a guy [ex boss] who years later disappeared and his family's company vanished only to find out later he was locked up}

Once the Haz Mat leaves the plant, the trucker is holding the whole bag until it is received.

Anyone trucking HM without proper credentials will feel like they were thrown in a hole and everyone and their brother is throwing real big rocks.

    BUT ! ! ! !

Being retired and with apologies to those persons who's DOT business cards are in my file I can say that the odds of being caught may be slim.

You can bet that some short haul HM port containers may have a HM CDL and that's it.

I experienced an audit over a shipper changing a load to a higher level [5 million insurance and HM certs vrs 1 million and no certs]

We watched the next few incoming boxes and the line used a carrier who wasn't haz mat...

Stuff happens every day and we only really 'know' about it is when it makes a big mess somewhere.

I believe the driver alone could be subject to a several thousand dollar fine, not to mention possibly losing his CDL. The company could be fined a lot of money, and possibly be shut down.

HazMat fines for drivers can be multi-thousand dollar fines, ($10,000 for example). If the BOL clearly show the freight is HazMat the driver and the company are in deep poo.

Another thing to think about. If you get caught hauling HazMat without the proper licensing and permits the DOT will usually go back through your books to see if you've done it before.
All the times we've sat around and figured ways to beat the DOT? What do you think they talk about when they have time? Right, ways to beat us. And the HazMat people are especially good at it.

Not only the trucking company is in trouble, But the SHIPPER also for shipping on a carrier that is not certified to carry Haz Mat.
