By licensed do you mean you just have them on on your registration or that you have a NM weight-distance use tax ID? If you don't have the ID, you'll have to stop at the port of entry and get a permit. They basically check every truck that rolls through there, I think they type the DOT# in their computer. I think it's a lot more expensive if you wait until the POE to get it, not to mention that you have to park and go inside, which is something I try to avoid. Here's the link to the application.

Other than that, nothing special about NM that I know of.

It is $5.75 to setup the account and then you file and pay quarterly for the miles you run.

It used to be a permit that covered weight and distance........if straight through like from Tx to Az....cheap........

I had an LTL that went all around the state and they were trying to stick me with about $150.00 for a one trip permit.

From Idaho to Farmington isn't that many miles.....in NM.....shouldn't be too expensive even buying each permit.

    No arguement there.......

I'd just check out the whole process and make my decision from there.

Probably make a few phone calls and get all the info you need.

It would make sense to go with the annual permit if the loads turn out to be more than a one time thing.:yes2557:

You can file online and get a permanent permit. It's easy. Then they mail you a form to fill out quarterly with the miles you traveled. Not much money at all.

The POE going west on 40 seemed to be the most particular, got me for $50+ twice, but have dropped down through Clovis toward Las Cruces the last two times & nobody there said a word about a permit. Everybody I have asked said the permit was cheaper & better to have filed up front.

Just don't understand these stupid states with oddball fuel rules & taxation, get the fee's you want via IFTA & move on.
