running local with own athority

    i will be buying a truck soon is there any o/o out here making money local like in a 500 to 700 miles radius from home i live near houston tx or is it better to go over the road

    lots of pipe yards in houston. you could run pipe to the oil rigs

    There is a lot of hotshot work in TX . If you stay under 26,000 lbs. GVWR authority isn't required . http://www.dot.state.tx.us/services/motor_carrier/registration.htm
    Be advised though if a shipment originates in another state and is transfered in Texas it is considered interstate and requires D.O.T. authority . (Like a product delivered to a distribution center then delivered to a local customer )

    i have never ran flatbed but its a maybe my friend works pulling pipe and he does pretty good i just always like van or refer

    you'd have a harder go of it with a van or reefer but if you can secure some accounts then anything is possible. but the oilfield stuff would be the easiest way to go
