Some further info. He is a L/O with the company. I'm not worried about bennies or anything as I already have them as a company employee. I know it is a ##### wage but that is why I am asking what the L/O should kick in to bring it up to a fair rate. If I just upgrade and go solo my rate is .46 cpm plus any fuel bonuses I may get along the way. I just didn't know if anyone out there was running like that and is so what they were making.

Oh and it would only be for a week or two while he was on vaca.

Is the company ( PRIME ) ok with you doing this , and what's left before for you can do the upgrade and get your own truck
reddevil504 Thanks this. -

Other than doing a favor for a friend I see no upside in this for you. I would not bother running CPM for this guy. Run the truck and take 90% of the earnings after expenses. You keep him from going into the hole while he is on vacation which is his biggest concern, and he still makes 10% of the trucks revenue. Other wise upgrade and run solo.
Broccelli Thanks this. -

Personally I would not do it and just get into my own truck... we all know things can happen out there.. which is whh if I were a L/O I would just forgo my vacation and keep my truck running cause I would have a hefty payment I gotta make..
Your trainer wants his truck running cause he has to make that payment whether his truck is running and earni g or not, and I am sure the company wants it running at least enough to cover the payment... but, I see nothing in it for you.. you will be solo either way, in his truck or yours... might as well be yours...
There is more to think about then just how much you will be paid.. hou also need to k ow what you will be responsible for.. if a tire blows.. do you pay for it or will he.. breakdowns and stuff happens.. for company drivers it is a delay.. for O/Os and L/Os it is a responsibility and cost..
And again personally I would not do it.. you are right out of training and that is a bigger responsibility then just etting your own truck.. because if someting happens you may have just financially devastated him... -
I appreciate all the feedback and I am going to just upgrade to my own truck. Too many variables to account for. While I do think that I am ready to stand on my own 2 feet, there would be too much at stake for a wet behind the ears new guy. Besides I am heading to Riverside, CA tomorrow and then back to the terminal to upgrade! Finally!
