Back in December I had a load going to a grocery warehouse in PA. Asked dispatch if I could deliver the load early, they said yes. Warehouse said no, had to go away and come back 3 hours later then it took them 11 hours to unload. 4 in staging, the rest at the dock. I ran out of hours and they had signs everywhere stating no overnight parking. I told them multiple times that I was running out of hours and wouldn't be able to leave the property after they ran out. Ended up parking in the staging area till my 10 hrs was up.

transam elog has a safe haven tab on it
if shipper/reciever doesnt let you stay on the property
to move to closest secure facility
or if empty pc...just dont accept another load out of hours

i see it this way too...... i think it makes people not think for themselves, and become Center Lane Cinderellas, who never check the mirrors and look nervous when you say Hi in the parking lot

I thought it was that, and weather (snow/flood/etc) related. But I'm an extreme rookie.

Boy, you guys sure don't read.

The company wants him to disable the truck so that it can't be moved, and tell the property owner that the truck is broken down and he can't move it. They said nothing about the fuse for the EOBR. Sheesh.

I sure wish someone would share with me this regulation that allows travel to a safe haven after running out of hours at a shipper.

Because how can it be allowed on E-logs but not on paper.

Last night I MIGHT have been able to use it since there was a nice snow storm that got worse than I expected. But I was still able to plan my day around that storm. So no 2-hour safe-haven for weather extension for me there.

    Raiderfanatic Thanks this.
