Exactly my point.
There is NO regulation allowing for travel to a "safe haven" because you ran out of hours at a shipper/consignee.
You are running as illegal doing so as someone on paper "justifying" your actions by saying you are on E-logs.Raiderfanatic and 123456 Thank this. -

Raiderfanatic Thanks this.

Below 0.04, you can be put OOS for 10 hours,
Over 0.04, you get dui.
I'm on the phone or I'd find that part. -

It's not an egregious violation unless you're 3 hours over. You can put getting to a safe haven and they usually will leave you alone. Our company got Audited by DOT when they switched to Elogs and they let you go into violation up to 8 times a quarter without penalty. I don't do it if at all possible and I have never been pulled in with a violation on my log so I don't know personally, just know what our company tells us.
Cranky Yankee Thanks this. -

I just can't bring myself to believe that an electronic log makes a driver safer. From what I see every day out on the road, the drivers I feel are the most unsafe are the ones who have the stickers on the side saying "this driver uses elogs" or whatever.
And you're right, IMO....elogs makes it where a driver lets someone who's not in the truck do his thinking. I've really developed a bad impression of elogs after seeing a few company drivers I know switch over to them. Just makes me shake my head. Sets me more and more in the frame of mind I will be one of the last to ever allow them in my truck.
