I've always been on paper logs so isn't wasn't much of an issue unless I was in a place where I knew no parking was nearby. I remember twice I nicely advised the security guard your company detained me and ran me out of my hours and I legally can't drive. If I'm in an accident your company will be held responsible. Even though they didn't allow trucks to stay on their property they made special accommodations for me. That doesn't work every where but it's worth a try when you give them a legality wake up call.
If I remember correctly Meltom who works in safety tells his people just to move and document why. When you are stuck between a rock and a hard place something has to happen regardless. I think an auditor would see the violation, understand and overlook it. You would just have to move as close and reasonably as possible and start your 10 over again when you get parked. If someone gave you a hard time then you ask what would you do?
Blatantly disabling the vehicle or EOBR is just plain sneaky and will get you in trouble. Being forced into a situation can be understandable. The regulations are from perfect and need a major overhaul. -
