Bad thing about it is they get paid by government for each driver that goes through their school. They make money by running off drivers.

Holy Hell!...I didnt think i'd get this many responses lol...But anyways its seem's like Stevens is gonna be a it....i still gotta fill the application and get approved....soo ill see how that goes. Any other's out there i can still try?. Also i tried hot shottin i drove a 96 dodge 3500 2wd auto with a 3 car 51ft wedge trailer...And i enjoyed it alot but the problem was the guy i started working for...The day and a half i worked for him he was gonna be gettin into motorcycle hauling instead and was gonna sell the dodge and 3 car for a box truck...he wasn't sure on it on first day i was with him but the following day he told that he got a really good offer on the truck and trailer and that he was gonna sell his truck and trailer and that was that..but he paid for the day and a half i worked...Its ashame cause everything was goin very smooth and thats somthin i can deffently get into because ive been waiting too get a newer dodge dually like 05-07 3500 6 speed for awhile now...but the costs to get everything started plus gettin a 4 car wedge trailer would be at 12 grand not too mention 18k for the truck too...soo that'll have too wait for now...and im gonna apply too Stevens and see what happens and alot of u guys are right its be better too stick it for awhile and then go for a better job elsewhere.

Might I suggest www.truckpaper.com? Member 123456 suggested I visit that site a couple years ago and there are many jobs listed there.Simply register (free) and read "jobs posted" and create your own "job wanted" message for potential employers to view.

Be warned though-many of the jobs are 1099 with an Owner-Op-however to get a "start"..WTH?? IMO doing that would make more sense (and cents) than signing on with a "puker" bottom feeder outfit. Best Of Luck Man!! :)

I forgot: Maybe try a farmer. If you lived in MN my brother would probably give you a shot hauling grain etc. in a 7 State area.Downside: You probably won't make much $$ going the farmer route-but again you will save yourself needless and unnecessary pain as if you go to a Bottom Feeder outfit.Course this is only my opinion..But I wouldn't tell someone I DON'T LIKE to go to most of the companies you have listed..Starting out..It is a #####!!!

considering what i have seen some of their GRADUATES do on the road, i am surprised they have any scruples about getting another warm body

Like the others have said....check out straight truck companies. Panther requires none.

Talk about age, today I ran my sand bucket to SC for a load of sand to fill a log road at the back side of my farm and the guy in frond of me at the sand pit was having problems getting his bed to dump part of over load and I was over loaded too so I helped him get his dump unlatched. Poor guy was having problems getting it open, This guy was old and seemed to have all his teeth and walked light on his feet. I asked him how old his was and was surprised when he said 89. He was driving an old 74 hundred white that looked nice, to date this is the oldest driver I've found, we both dumped overload and drove down the road heading west and this guy had a good running 74 hundred white with 84,000 pounds and I was surprised to see him give me a run for my money as we both were running frameless dumps. This guy seem to be happy and had a smile when I passed him on interstate 73. Guys I thought this has to be a very successful O/O, reason is , he was happy. I don't care how much money you make if you are not happy then it's all in vain. They may be older drivers out there but it's a nice thing to know you can have many years of having a job that you are still willing to keep working. Guys hang in there and it's a fine profession to drive a truck but we all still need more money for the work we do and some day these cut throat companies that seem to be in the business of training drivers and getting the government subsidies' for doing such. When companies pay 4,000 sign on pay what does that tell you, right, there is something wrong with that company as good pay will draw all the good help they need.
