It all falls on you . You will have to keep a driver file on him , be responsible for him complying with HOS and be sure he gets his logs in on time and you keep copies of them . You're responsible for making sure he gets random drug tests . Any violations on him or his equipment will go against your carrier safety rating . There's more or have you heard enough ?

looking for some advice here, I have about 15 K in cash and I'am considering purchasing a good used truck from my local heavy truck dealer I've been dealing with for years.
I' m just starting to get into the trucking business so a newbie. About 6 months on the road.
I've researched Insurance, cost to register in my home state and the truck.
My insureance writer will complete all filings to obtain my "Authority".
Total monthly payments for truck and Insure. would be approx. $575.00 monthly.
What else would I have to do to start my career as an owner operator ? -
truck, trailer, insurance,CAPITOL,authority, customer's,factoring company and a little luck and patience...
yep that covers it.
Best wishes to you. -
Thanks Rick G, Im a little nervous about this i feel my best option is probably put another truck of my own where i have more control of maintenance, paperwork and whos in it
