Because in this section it comes up every other week. Give it time and someone will start mentioning rates, fuel and the president. Its like....

    Manual or Auto
    Authority or Leased
    GPS or Atlas
    Paper logs or Elogs
    New truck or Old truck

    Skate-Board and Boardhauler Thank this.

Should I get my cdl and buy a new truck because I heard that's where all the money is.
Which loadboard has the best paying freight.
Who will let me use their password to look at a loadboard (because I think all the posts have a $ tag attached)
Why doesn't everyone believe they should use super singles.
I bought a truck and don't know how to be a trucker.

Just adding a couple other regulars that show up that you didn't have ;)

Pay as low as $4000 when leased to a carrier for insurance? I thought most places only required you to carry bobtail ins which was under $1000 last I checked. Has it gone up that much?

Skate-Board said it all "Abide by their rules or your gone in a second" That's the problem running the carriers tags. I have never ran my own authority, and have been leased to one of the best Owner Operator companies for 26 years. It's worked for me, but they could cancel my contract at any time, there I sit no tags and no insurance.

Everybody's situation/needs are different, you have to figure it out for yourself. If you're on here asking some of these questions (should I get a step or a flat?) you're probably going to make the wrong decision anyway.

So if you have your own authority, do you do a urine or hair test? I'm asking for a friend.

first off to make sure we are on the same page all that stuff you talked about I do the same thing, I have spent so much time looking for inbound freight it has drove me crazy 50/calls only to get offered $2/mi is chick in ####.

I run under my own numbers definitely not easy I don't just park my truck at the end of the week leave my cell phone in the truck until Monday and hit the bank on sat to get the money that was Direct deposited into my account, I have my own direct customers I move loads for and if I didn't and had to run off load boards I'd be leased onto someone in a hart beat.

I spend as much time on the phone pricing loads checking with customers and calling on loads than I do driving. I have a buddy that was at mercer for six years he got a hair up his ### and decided to go out and get his own authority he is stressed out and I have spent so much time on the phone helping him out yesterday he got a letter about his first audit he don't keep up with half the stuff he should because he never had to, he showed me the last three years of taxes and his gross went up but cost went up $20,000 last year so as he said he is working way to much and making the same money he once was being leased.

Really, who cares Bayou. It's like your trying to talk people with their own authority to give it up and lease on.
